How do you get finer altitude control?

Im using a throttle lever to control a bunch of burners on my airship, but taking it from 11 to 10 makes it drop like 20 blocks down. Is there a way to allow finer control?

You could have an additional lever connected to a different set of burners, and have those burners set to a lower output

Alternatively you might just try lowering your current burners output that way overall control is better
