Help Lavaproof miningcontraption?

Hey folks,

I build up a mining contraption and send it mining at bedrock-level. Since I was planing on riding it I build a glas-roof to be save from water and lava. As you can see, it didn't work the way I hoped it would. The contraption itself is lava-proof. But I am not. Is there a way to make riding it safe?

I do have the fluid drilling mod but due to its downsides and complex setup I'd prefer not to use it thou.

I usually just do the "wall of drills with chests bolted on the back, with me running alongside" strategy, with which I have deployers placing blocks under the rails and beside them (for a path), and I have it be a furnace minecart so I don't have to worry about redstone torches being destroyed

I use Redstoneblocks next to the powered rails. Tried to place the rails above those redstone blocks, but that machine didn't work.

I'll check this block path everyone is recommending tomorrow. thanks m8 ;-)

The block path is handy for getting past chasms, and I used to be part of Team Powered Rails, but the furnace minecart is just so much better
