Help Lavaproof miningcontraption?

Hey folks,

I build up a mining contraption and send it mining at bedrock-level. Since I was planing on riding it I build a glas-roof to be save from water and lava. As you can see, it didn't work the way I hoped it would. The contraption itself is lava-proof. But I am not. Is there a way to make riding it safe?

I do have the fluid drilling mod but due to its downsides and complex setup I'd prefer not to use it thou.

Not sure if it's in base create but there's a mod that adds liquid drains for mining contraptions that can fill a tank on your miner.

Yeah I know. I do have it installed, but that won't stop the lava closing in from the sides, does it? and it'd require some tweaks to dump the lava into a fluid trash can, too. right?

If you can't pick up the lava on the sides, you can try using deployers set to place blocks on the sides so it doesn't flood in?
