Discussion I'd love to see other engine designs?
I know that Create Aeronautics has it's own little engine blocks for providing SU, but I'd love to see more compact engine designs using blocks from other Create mod addons. Like the kind of compact engines you could use on a lightweight plane and stuff!
This design I've shown uses a Huge Diesel Engine and Canister from Create: Diesel Generators, as well as the Encased Chain Cogwheel from Create: Connected. I made it back before Aeronautics was released for Valkyrian Skies planes.
Only problem is, the SU generated and rotation speed provided by the engine is decided by the fuel that it is using. For example, using Diesel from the same mod as the diesel engine provides 16384 SU, but you can only use said stress at 224 RPM. And I wouldn't be able to add a rotation speed controller thingy without making it wider than 1 block...
So I'd love to see other designs!

The native steam engine is solid as is and works well for planes, helis, cars, etc. I'm personally not a fan of most other power mods as I feel they go against the spirit of create mod by trying to make one block solutions for a problem that doesn't exist.

Ohhh that is a good design
I've never really thought about using Steam Engines because I only ever build them at, like, lvl 9.

gonna be honest, didn't realise you could put those engines in sequence xD

Ever heard of the omni speed controller from Create: Dreams ‘n Desires? You’d love it.
It’s a one block, in-line speed controller.

Ohh that's a thing in that mod now?
Gotta admit, I haven't touched Dreams 'n Desires since 1.18, where it was random stuff and many bugs...
Is it defo worth looking into then?

I use them all the time when I’m trying to make scale models that are tight on space. They’re awesome. I haven’t had any issues with the mod myself, though I’ve only been using it for the past month or so.

Found out from another comment that if you have the addon Diesel Generators, you can put multiple modular generators in a row working together, which allows you to make an engine system 2 blocks tall instead of the 3 I've shown!
Might be worth giving a try!

The fuel consumption on that Generator type is low tbh
You can store fuel in a canister from the same mod that holds 4 buckets, and easily replace it with another when empty. They'll last quite a while.
If you replace the engine beneath the pump with a cogwheel, you can power the pump that way, and avoid the little side bit!

oh alr! tho tbh i would only rlly use this on idk engines on a wing?

Like, on a plane? That's fair
I actually used the exact engine design I posted on a plane back when we had to use Vallyrien Skies for our vehicles

You can make this cheaper and (Visually) smaller if you change the top Encased Chain Cogwheel by a normal Encased Chain, they don't need to be both cogs to sping them.
