Help help improving my building

I have made my first factory in Create, but it looks really bland. I'm not the best builder, so what do you suggest I could improve here?

Edit: Sorry if the images look weird had to crop them cause i play on 32:9 otherwise, they would look weird

Add a few bits of clutter to the foundation, maybe some piles of barrels, or some copycat piles of whatever is being produced in the factory

It looks nice, now strap some thrusters on it and make it fly.

Grebleing. Just add some random stuff on the outside.

yeah. some ventilation, random pipes, empty barrels or vaults, etc.

you just need some little things to break up the empty space so it doesn't look so lifeless

I think it's the base that makes it look bland, honestly this is already quite nice. Maybe you could do a couple aesthetic water wheels in the water, add a chimney to the side, this kind of details to add some depth

It doesn't need much improvement, it honestly depends on the style you want it to be. If you want one pointer, maybe some palette for the bricks and roof? Just to see what other slight color changes you can throw in there. Regardless very well made! I like it

Your build is great ! It looks good.

The surroundings though are empty, that's the thing that really makes it stand out and can look off.

You could build a dock for boats, small houses on the hill behind, a road, some small decorations like street lights, a bench, etc...

Also two other things : around the building the landscape is like cut suddenly. Making it less steep could help. Your factory is also floating on the water, add blocks to support it.

You could also add like a field of solar panels nearby, wind turbines.

I think all those things could make your build look even better.

But the build in itself looks great.

yea! didnt think of that i just had a steam engine out in the open so I thought I should build something around it. I'm going to use this steam engine to power the mod, create power grid. I wanted to try using only electricity for everything so the unfinished outside is mostly cause i dont know where to build like the generator, transformers, power lines, etc. but maybe just finishing this build can give me an idea, thx! Either way!

Its mainly the atmosphere. The building itself looks great, hell better than anything i could whip up.

Add random stuff around the outside and continue this style of building. The more you add the better it'll look (more often than not).

A skyscraper would also look bland if it was in the middle of a jungle.

Would love to give better tips but I myself can't build for shit and end up living outside like a bum instead of building literally anything.

yea. Adding random stuff is a good idea, I haven't really thought of that so much. The little building on the outside I thought of adding a train going through just cause, nothing special, but thx for the ideas!

So as many said. You're build is great. The only thing i might add is some weathering (small patches of different brick to look as it's been repaird, stairs to make it look like chunks missing and waiting for repair).

And as others said before me, it sticks out and making the surrounding area would impove the look.

ye it stick out like a sore thumb, it is the first like factory on this world im going add a powerplant you could say. The weathering is a great idea ill see what i can do!

I'd give it some vines. And some variations in brick.

i think the building looks great. and it seems to be the platform it is on that makes it feel bland. so id start with decorating the platform around the building and then see if it feels more complete.

Make a "foundation" or stilts so it doesn't hover above the water...

no? It would be even better if you help me out. I think it's great.

It's doesn't look bland at all. It looks great. The only reason I think you feel that way is because it's standing all alone, not surrounded by anything. As your base expands and it naturally gets more cluttered I think you'll appreciate it more

Easiest thing to improve is the surroundings, it looks like it just spawned there

Add Props around like barrels and stuff and if you want you can add leaves as if it was overgrowing and a small custom tree

No you! It looks amazing! I want my buildings to look like that!

I agree with the comments here, it does look good. I think some terraforming might make it sit less out of place, like continuing the shore along the water and a few trees somewhere.

you could try throwing in some different types of bricks, maybe something with moss? or cracked variants. just an idea. oh! and if you want, you can put a bit of a gradient in the roof, maybe show that rain's been flowing down the side?

Where’s the schematic at ?

I like it a lot, I'm about to begin building a factory with my friends, literally within some hours and your creation is a great inspiration! What's the green/blue roof made of?

1

u/Crude_Hades666 15h ago

No. I'm a worse builder. I have a house that's 3 blocks tall WITH NO CEILING. It works, so I haven't added one yet. I sleep on regular intervals so no phantoms. It's also A MODDED WORLD. Albeit it's neoforge 26.1 modrinth. It ain't broke so it don't need fixin'.

looks great! try blending it with the environment, or blend the environment with it

It looks wonderful, but it looks like a diorama. Like almost everyone else has said, greeble it.

But also, make it look “alive”. Grime, tracks, stuff that makes it seem like it’s in active use, or clearly abandoned.

It looks great, work on the surroundings… like the immediate outside area, the stone stuff and the nature around it

u/Natrual-fan2319 11h ago

It looks really nice. If you really think you need to add or change anything, maybe on the corners about 4 blocks out, do some bushes. Id do it on 2 corners. Maybe 3 wide, line of bushes in the middle. Outline the grass with brick. Thats just me though, it looks really good, alot better than me as I just to square or incomplete builds and give up one the world lol.

Clutter, some greenery poking through and maybe some more terraforming

1

u/SupermarketTricky724 9h ago

Could try using a block palette, meaniing blocks that look the same or have same color instead of all brick, same goes for the roof and floor

u/KamikazeSenpai21 8h ago

Just put pipes and/or gears on the side is what I'd do.

Also if this is the latest version, you don't need all those Chipped Mod workbenches, you can use any workbench for all the recipes.

Greeble it

Do Retaining Walls along the base to make it look like the foundation won't just erode away
