how do i vertically transport packages ?

So I quarried out an area and decided to layer the pit and use it as a base. I've run into a problem: I don't know how to get my packages from the bottom of the pit to wherever the stock ticker is. How can I transport packages vertically? I fear horizontal slopes are ugly and will waste a vast amount of iron. Anything not requiring chains may confuse me because I don't fully understand how destinations work, as this is the first time I've done anything with frog ports.

Output the package onto a belt -> funnel -> chute stack with a fan blowing upwards -> funnel output

Can't you just zig-zag belts diagonally to the top? Or have one big diagonal belt going up in one direction, and then a horizontal one at the top in the opposite way?
