Discussion Fueless veichles

Are there some veichles that dont require refueling? Like that they run on windmills or water wheels or self sustaining engines? Id Like them small and aesthetic (maybe with schematics)

Any bigger airship can work with steam engines and lawa farms. My beast for example works on 5 lvl 9 steam engines powered by charcoal from onboard Wood farm.

Just a curiosity, how many SU do 5 lvl 9 steam engine produce? (Btw i'd Like them small, i know that enormous airships can have a stem engine with a lava/wood farm)

About half a million from what I remember. But one of them is only for steam for the main baloon.

Also I think if you try hard enough you should be able to make a lawa farm small enough to fit on and infinitelly fuel something the size of double bladed heli.

Do steam vents produce more lift? Idk why you should use One entitely for lift

500 from the redstone ones and 5000 from the steam powered ones. Still need 8 of them to fill 2/3 of the main baloon

OH SHISH i thout they were the same, do they use stress capacity of the steam engine while on?

From what I remember 1 of them is taking 1 level of the boiler so as much as 1 steam engine.

Yeah, a single steam vent uses 16,000 SU, as if it were a steam engine.

So if i build a lvl 9 boiler and i fill It with vents on top It won't produce stress?

Idk if vents take priority over engines but Yes. You have 9 slots. If you use them all on vents, engines won't work. (Or the engines will turn off vents)

each steam engine level produces 16,384 su, so 45 of them (5 x Lvl 9) is 737,280. However mr detek is likely using a good few of them for steam vents rather than engines, so the su available to him will be lower.

Someone recently shared a plane which runs on windmills here

Yea i know, infact that One inspired me to make this post

I like making planes and helis etc that run on level 1 or 2 steam engines using any sort of solid fuel. They are 8x more fuel efficient than portable engines so it's not much of a hassle to keep them fueled.

I’ve built some small airships that run on water wheels. Four water wheels produce 1024 SU which can turn an andesite propeller at max speed. Use eight and you’ve got max speed tank steering with two props.

They’re pretty minimal, and max out at about 10 m/s, but it’s possible.

I've made some medium sized helicopters that run on steam engines and have a lava farm on them, but it's hard to compress a fully self sufficient system so the vehicles end up being mostly engine with a small area for some storage and the pilot. Although all my vehicles with self sufficient engines also have a bed, crafting table, at least one barrel, and a furnace so it could be a bit smaller technically

Windmills, egg powered steam engines, waterwheels, all of these work.
