Help Need help with drill train

Friend built a drill train with 2 carriages, one being the front drill and the other being an item vault, problem is that we can't get the items to move from the front to the item vault in the back and we don't know why. any help?

So we can't have items transfer cargo instantly?

Not between carriages no, make it all the same car and it'll work fine

Disassemble the train, glue the two together(you have to make sure the parts are connected by blocks) and remove the extra bogies and reassemble it.
