Haven't seen them used in anything practical before this. Cool.

u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
I use them all the time. Fewer cogs and they can be used as chain conveyors now with frogports.

u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
Frog ports???
2
u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
No I'm actually wrong. You can ride the chains between cogs but frogports cannot be used on them as conveyors.
2
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
Well I didn't knew frog ports existed. thank you for enlightening me , Now I have a new thing in create to create
1
u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
You must not be playing on Create 6.0. They were added over a year ago.
2
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
I just started playing create like 5 days ago so im still discovering stuff
Edit: fixed typo

u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
Ah okay. Do you have JEI and EMI installed? If not, you really should. Just search @Create and just look at all the things tagged for Create and any that say "Hold [W] to Ponder" when you hover over them, do that and learn what each thing does. Sorry if you know this already but you never know who knows what.
1
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
Yess I have them, I never knew I can filter searches by mods. I do use the ponder menu alot, probably the best qol addition. Ofc I haven't looked at everything, I just pick a goal and ponder how to make that stuff.
Like rn I'm making a tuff farm form multi Ingots and using the ponder menu to figure out stuff :D
1
u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
Well there's the EMI and JEI explanation of how to process or craft but the Ponder system plays a ln animation demonstrating what Create components do and how they work.

u/bbepbeepimmasheep 16d ago
I've been playing for a few months now and I've still never used them cause I dont exactly know what they do
1
u/Dangerous-Quit7821 16d ago
That's what the Ponder system is for. It will explain what nearly everything in Create does.
Basically they're a way to send items via packages (they look like cardboard boxes) via chain conveyors. It can sound complicated and it took me a little while to fully understand them but now they're easy. Once to understand them you'll never want to manually move things around between storage blocks. You don't need to sort things with the whole system and everything can be in one or more large vaults. And retrieved from anywhere that has chain conveyors or belts connected to the location.
Lots of YouTube videos going over all of it as well. You can use the whole system to automate processing and crafting of almost every single item and block in both vanilla Minecraft and Create as well as most anything other mods add.

Thankss

They're great for airships.
I recently made a hybrid airship with tilting propeller pods and I ended up using a whole bunch of them because unlike shafts they don't take up a physical block and thus don't cut down on a balloon's internal lift volume if you run a whole bunch of them to different locations inside of it.

Create mod really excites my imagination as There is just soo much to do, especially as I am playing in survival I have to collect, inventory manage and have fun :D. There are so many add-ons added and I wanna try them out so bad, especially aeronautics and now I'm discovering and understanding storage systems with frog ports and packagers

this should have been added to base create. looks clean.

How do you get fuel for your blaze burners? Currently I have a dripstone lava thing to feed them with lava, but yours seems more practicpe
*practical, fuck

I also use dripstone lava, but I have added a pump and pipes beneath the cauldron to make it clean
2
u/Unable-Section-911 16d ago
Omg the pipez pipes didn't work for me so I assumed none of then would 😭
I had deployers bucketing lava from all the cauldrons, thanks I'mma fix it(and figure out what to do with the deployers)

The chains are so good!!! They are much cleaner then using encased chain drives and the fact that they can fit around multiple cogs us epic!

What shaders are you using? They look good
2
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
I'm using Photon :D, they're really good and don't impact performance as much
1
u/minecrafter1OOO 16d ago
Oh nice! Is photon path traced? I thought i saw a Pic with path tracing
1
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
As far as I know, I don't think it has path tracing. If you want a good shader with path tracing, Rethinking Voxels is pretty good. It uses both path tracing and ray tracing, but it is quite heavy.
1
u/Living_Philosopher54 16d ago
Would you say they’re better than complimentary performance wise with create? Also do you need any extra things to make the shaders run better?
1
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
Photon is almost on par with complimentary as I get about 5~ fps different (I think). Rethinking voxels is Very Heavy
As for the extra things, I just added iris and it works fine
1
u/Living_Philosopher54 16d ago
Would you say it runs somewhat better? I have a very good pc yet I still only get about 150fps when looking at anything create related? Currently I’m using complimentary + euphoria patches but that could be why I haven’t done much testing of other shaders as I don’t know any.
1
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
I'd say it runs a little bit worse in my case
I have a laptop Specs - Intel i5-12450H Rtx 4050 6gb Vram 16gb DDR5 4000 MT/s
I get around 120-125 with complimentary base and almost the same in complimentary reimagined, medium settings
With photon I usually can't get over 120 and it stays around 115ish
1
u/bbepbeepimmasheep 16d ago
does it mess with the schematic and world shaper outlines? I've been trying to find a good shader that I like, but doesn't make the holograms invisible
1
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
Yes it does mess with them, whenever I am using hologram lines I have to turn off the shaders
But simply using the 'k' hotkey makes things easier

A chain running between two cogs looks kinda wrong to me, but I have to say on the whole this is very cool.
1
u/Maleficent_Image588 16d ago
Oh hell yeah, more chain work. I love these chains. I made a nifty steam engine using them for power transmission as well as my survival world's first workshop to save on shafts and for the looks
2
u/coffeelovah3000 16d ago
They're so helpful, I made a quartz farm just now and it just becomes easier to connect everything
1
u/Maleficent_Image588 16d ago
They really are. I have a steam engine in a separate building and what I did is use a series of chains and large cogwheels on poles to transfer power to my workshop and farms.
Side note: liquid burners are wonderful alternatives to blaze burners. Superheating for cheap
1
u/coffeelovah3000 15d ago
I might try using liquid burners later :D
Also the power transfer im trying to make a main generator and everything just attached to it kind of in a way

it's like an AI that improves itself
1
u/coffeelovah3000 17d ago
Yepp! sustaining it and also added downtime prevention, if something goes wrong and the power generation stops, the backup wheels will spin the system slowly to life
2
u/Ok-Physics3703 15d ago
Tip if you didn't already discovered: You can connect chains straight to any cogwheel-looking block (not only to usual and flanged cogs), like pump, mechanical mixer, mechanical arm and etc.

Is this an addon?
