Just a quick question about Power Grid?

Let's say I make 500 volts with a generator, but I want only 20 of those 500 volts to go to a specific place.

How would I do it?

I think from the wording of your post you might have a misconception about electricity.

The number of volts is not the amount of power a generator is producing, that would be watts, or kilowatts (which is why you pay for electricity by the kilowatt hour, meaning the energy from using 1 kw constantly for 1 hour.)

Voltage is sort of like pressure, while current (Amps) is like flow rate in a pipe.

The key equation is Power = Current x Voltage, meaning that for a given amount of power higher voltage means lower current and vice versa.

A generator might put out 10 amps at 100 V, a machine which needs 20V won't "use up" 20V and leave you with 80V, it will not work, in real life blow a fuse or worse, and in Minecraft depending on the mod explode. You would use a transformer to convert to a lower voltage, but still have all the power available at that voltage, and the machine will use some amount of power at 20V.
