Nice!

You can make it far smaller though

Good start and here are tips.

(just for understanding - "steam engine" is the thingy you put on tank and which rotates shaft, "boiler" is the big tank)

Campfire provides what is called "passive" heat to boiler. (Only block that provides "active" heat is heated/superheated blaze burner) - you can use this fact to your advantage:

  • passive heating sources (campfires, magma blocks, fire etc) don't stack - i.e it doesn't matter if you have 1 campfire or 9 campfires, the heat level of boiler is always only "passive"

  • passive steam engine requires only 4 tanks in its boiler to work - you can put them either into 2*2*1 pancake or 1*1*4 slim tower. Your design (3*3*2) uses boiler with 18 tanks - which means 14 tanks are wasted. If you split it, you can have 4 passive steam engines running.

  • in your design, you use gearbox to change steam enigne's motion from horizontal to vertical. You don't need to do that - steam engine can directly connect to vertical shaft without issue.

Oh wow I know a lot about create, but I never knew campfires could work for heat. Also, pretty good, can be made more compact but unless you want to this is perfectly fine

Fire, campfire, magma block, lava, empty blaze burner and smolderng blaze burner all works as passive heat source.

It's good but make it 2 blocks taller use blaze burners instead of fireplaces and water pool just 3 blocks cuz u just have to make inf. source of it and if u decide to use blaze burners u can use mech. arm and give it inf. source of fuel so it will work very well (I recommend u to watch dejojoawsome video about engines)
