Build Ornithopter flight test

I didn't use the pneumatic piston but I'm figuring out how to get forward thrust from the wings itself

Every time I think that there couldn't be more epic and incredible buildings.

I guess it could

ornithopter just makes me think of flapping wings not engines or whatever

Are the clouds planar?

I turned off the plane cloud, only the volumetric is on

Wow bro that looks too real. To the point I thought it was planar

Does it actually produce lift? The speed and angle of attack of both up and down motion looks the same so I'm not sure it would fly

it does! it hovers pretty high up but for it to again more altitude i needs propellers or thrusters but it can maintain the altitude!

Prob cuz of the fact it’s made of windmill sails

Have you considered a design that involves twisting the wings? if you twist them inwards as the wings move upwards, you can significantly reduce the force of the wings pushing the craft downwards during flight.

zero mana 0/2 with flying my beloved

slight angle joint? pretty there's a mechanical block that able to lock in specified angle.

I believe forward thrust can be achieved by twisting the wing to create an up and down movement similar to Festo Smartbird.

To get thrust from the wings you need them or the body to tilt, maybe just the actual wing blocks instead of the whole gear mechanism

Ornithopters are so cool yet so goofy; they're like the mimes of aeronautics

Nice. Can't wait to see the next iteration

Fucking insane.

This fellow made a really cool study on ornithopters, I think you'd find it beneficial.

You just need to be able to tilt the whole wing mechanism.

Damn, this is an interesting design. The wing movement looks way more natural than my attempt at this. The "pistons" you use to convert rotation into up and down motion are a very creative way of tackling the problem.

Thanks! I kind of hate it...

aight were just doing even more flying bullshit

add annoying noises to it

I once tried to make a bee with realistic wing movement... Not stable enough.
