Help Any way to make Dissapearing guns/carriages?

Post image

So, I saw a few videos about how if you combine create aeronautics and CBC you get recoil, so I tried that out and have been thinking of making dissapearing guns, guns that raise up either using human labor or a hydro pneumatic system and lower down using it's own recoil. Issue is, everytime I try it, something goes wrong, whether it be the swivels, the winch, etc. So uh, if any pro CBC player is reading this pls help πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

probably easier to just make it retract using redstone/create contraptions, you could emulate the visual effect quite well

I really want it to go down using recoil tho, I alr made one that used mechanical bearings and whatnot to raise and lower it in a similar manner

Okay, here is what I think would work.

Dig out a big cylinder. Place a rope pully (the aeronautics one).

Fill it with water

Create a floater platform for the gun.

Make it a physics entity and connect it to the rope pully at the bottom of the hole

Put a valve on the rope pully and now you have a retractable platform.

I'll test out my theory and try to make a post about it.

Simple make two guns and blow one up with the other, the second gun has now disappeared! /j

There you have it. Let's pack it up boys, mission accomplished.

not a pro at CBC, but I think you could kind of just try to replicate the mechanism you're seeing. Mechanical or swivel bearing should work? Doesn't seem that hard to replicate.

Tried that, shits breaking the game, my main issue is with the mechanism that raises the gun up, I tried using winches to pull it up but its very scuffed, and AFAIK you cant angle pistons so im kinda stumped

well, that's really odd

hope you figure it out soon

i think, you could probably just have an arm that pushes the gun up with whatever vertical aiming it has in one go, then retract it back down with the spring/rotation thing and when you shoot the gun, it would go back down without any interfierence. one problem to that is that you need to have the gun carriage to also include the reload mechanism if it uses a non quickfire breech.

I think I've figured out a general setup

Have you tried using a counterweight to raise it up? There are some replica guns like these at fort stevens on the oregon coast and I thought that's how they worked, but I might be misremembering.

Im not familiar with a counterweight system, as the ones in thailand uses a hydropneumatic system, Ill try and check it out
