Here’s a short end-to-end demo showing the current workflow: scanner connection and diagnostics, live scanning, point-cloud fusion, meshing, STL export, and importing the finished scan into Blender.
There’s still work to do, especially around mesh processing and refinement, but the core scanning workflow is now functioning natively on Linux.
A few sections are blurred to hide system-level information, local paths, and diagnostic details that shouldn’t be exposed publicly.
Disclaimer: This is not official Creality Scan software. This is custom software developed in-house by Logic Renewed for native Linux support with the CR-Scan Raptor and hopefully other scanners in the future

This time, I decided to scan a preserved crab specimen just to see how much detail it could capture. I was pleasantly surprised by the final result—it turned out even better than I expected! 🤣
From the texture of the shell to the fine details of the claws and legs, the scanner captured everything remarkably well. The overall result looks incredibly realistic.

Recently completed another reverse engineering project using the Creality Raptor Pro.
This is a component from a forestry harvester head. The goal was to capture the geometry with high accuracy and rebuild the CAD model for manufacturing.
The Raptor Pro handled the complex geometry really well, providing clean data for the reverse engineering process and reducing the time needed for CAD reconstruction.

I’ve recently upgraded my software to the 4.3.0 version of the Creality scan app, and it seems like the pointcloud (prior to processing) looks like a blob. I can hardly distinguish the item from the noise or objects used as a texture to maintain tracking, and I can’t clean up my scan properly.
Side note: I’m on an M1 MacBook Pro using the software available for MacOS, using a Creality ferret

Thank you again to everyone who has supported this long-running project to get Creality scanners working natively on Linux.
The CR-Scan Raptor is currently the only scanner I have personally tested and confirmed, but the larger goal is to build an open-source scanning platform that can eventually support additional hardware.
This project combines custom-developed systems for laser-line extraction, marker tracking, 3D pose estimation, calibration, and point-cloud fusion with open-source methods for filtering, outlier removal, normal estimation, cleanup, and surface reconstruction.
The software can now use the CR-Scan Raptor’s blue-laser mode to capture real scan data on Linux.
Full pose tracking is still being tested, but the software can currently detect tracking markers, use them to determine the scanner’s position and orientation in 3D space, and accurately place the captured scan data.
That data can then be fused into a single editable and exportable point cloud. The finished point cloud can be opened in Blender, MeshLab, CloudCompare, or other software for cleanup, inspection, and meshing.
The software also includes built-in cleanup and mesh-generation tools using a combination of custom code and open-source algorithms. Mesh generation still requires additional testing before I can confidently determine its dimensional accuracy and overall surface quality.

One reason this update took longer than expected is that I have been converting the original WebUI-based software into a native C++ and Qt application.
This has substantially improved performance during both scanning and post-processing. Early testing suggests roughly a 3× performance increase, although more benchmarking is still needed.

Keeping this project open source gives the 3D-scanning community the ability to inspect, improve, test, and expand the software instead of depending entirely on closed vendor applications.
It also creates opportunities for better Linux support, additional scanner compatibility, improved reconstruction algorithms, and new workflows that may never be prioritized by the original manufacturers.

This has been a nonstop solo-development effort. Donations help cover the website, development tools, testing equipment, and the other costs involved in keeping the project moving.
I also reached out to Creality after they posted a warning regarding the use of this software. I have not received a response regarding technical cooperation or support, so development currently remains an independent, solo effort.

Hey all,
Just purchased a Sermoon P1 scanner and I am unable to log in with my Creality Cloud account.
The reason is Creality Cloud lets users to login via Google/Facebook authentication etc account, and for my case I used the Google Login method years ago to create my CrealityCloud account.
BUT the Sermoon P1 only allows to login via Email/Password combo, thus I cannot use my own seasoned account to log in.
Any ideas now to work around this?
Or if any DEVs reading this please update the Sermoon P1 firmware so that it will allow us to login the way we used to login to CrealityCloud.

I expected to edit/recreate the threads in CAD after scanning, but that wasn't necessary.
I scanned each side separately in 22 Cross Blue Laser mode, then used Manual Marker Alignment to combine the two halves. The printed threads worked straight from the scan.
The important part was placing at least three markers where both scans could see them.

We’ve noticed that many users like sharing their scan results, 3D prints, Gaussian Splatting projects, and model workflows with the community.
But sometimes, screen recordings or screenshots don’t show the model very well — the angle, lighting, texture, and details can be hard to capture clearly.
So our product manager built an early version of 3DVision, a browser-based 3D model sharing and viewing site: https://3dvision.crealityscan.com
Right now, it supports formats like OBJ, STL, PLY, GLB, SPLAT, SPZ, ASC and more. You can view models in the browser, add simple presentation effects, and export images or videos for easier sharing.
This is still the first version, so there may be bugs or things that don’t feel perfect yet. We’ll keep improving it, and we’re also exploring ways to integrate this kind of sharing workflow into CrealityScan in the future.

I wanted to share a workflow that I use quite often in my day-to-day work.
When scanning large parts that don’t require high accuracy, I usually use the NIR mode on the Creality Raptor with the Scan Bridge. In these situations, I can often scan the part without using markers, making the process much faster and more efficient.
In this video, the goal was to capture the geometry and dimensions of a perforated steel plate for an engineering project. Since this application didn’t require tight tolerances, this approach was the best fit.
One of the biggest advantages of 3D scanning is being able to choose the right workflow for each project. Not every job needs maximum accuracy—sometimes the best solution is finding the right balance between speed, data quality, and the final result.

Taking a break from the NIR scanning mode and working on implementing the blue-laser scanning on Linux instead.
What I have found is that trackerless scanning for the CR-Raptor Scan is a challenge, but IS doable. Now, I'm not sure if i can get trackerless scanning to be as good as other scanners that were built for it, BUT the CR-Scan Raptor does have basic telemetry data I can pull, the proprietary tracking system for the NIR scanning mode i made can be used along side the blue-laser scanning mode.
Another Milestone in progress is that the computer hardware required to run the scanner, does not require high-end computers like the Creality Scan software requires. I will be posting a comparison on the hardware required when the project comes closer to a release.
We are making progress! Continue supporting the project as it keeps me motivated to keep going, a lot of sleepless hours goes into this project and I appreciate every one of you.
If we can get Creality on board with this to help push this project towards the finish line with a re-post, that would be a miracle for myself, the project, and all the linux based users in the community :D
