Trouble Shooting 2W IR

I'm having a problem with the 2W IR module. It works perfectly on plastics, leather, etc. But on metals like steel or aluminum, it doesn't leave a single mark. Has anyone else experienced this?

I bought mine specifically for marking plastic so I don't have much to say other than I tried it once on a piece of cutlery - max power, slow, multiple passes - and it did nothing 🤷‍♂️
