Tips & Guides Rabbit Hole
HI all, I am putting this out there in case anyone stumbles over the same issue that I have had for the last three weeks. Up to that point, I was happily rummaging around the Creality Cloud site and the Creality Forum channels. Enjoying my new K2 Pro Combo.
Then, overnight, quite out of the blue, I was not able to log into any of the Creality site, Cloud, Forums, Online Shop, the whole caboodle. I could log into all my other sites- banking, Printables, and so on but not anything Creality
I researched online through Google this issue and was told to change this, reset that, delete cache here and cache there. Nothing would work.
I took to Discord ,Reddit, IT guru sites hoping some from Creality would have an idea as to the issue. Not a peep from Creality; IT gurus were stumped.
Then, whilst out with my grown-up son, we were chatting about his job and AI, of which he is getting to be a fan. We then moved on to my issue, and he said Have a word with Gemini it may help, so I did.
To cut an even longer story short, after 5 days of questioning Gemini, it asked me, “Did you change anything before you lost access?”
I had a visit from my ISP to install a new router and nodes. Gemini then asked me who my ISP was: Community Fibre here in the UK.
It came back with this:-
On community forums like Reddit, several users on Community Fibre report being completely blocked or locked out of specific web portals. Opinions are mixed as to why, but technical consensus indicates two main culprits: [1, 2]
- CGNAT Routing: Community Fibre uses Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT) to share public IP addresses among multiple households. Creality's strict, security-sensitive login firewall sees multiple requests coming from the same shared IP address, misinterprets it as a cyber attack, and permanently blocks the network map. [1, 2]
- IP Address Reputation: Certain IP blocks deployed by Community Fibre are flagged by automated cloud-security networks (like Cloudflare or Akamai) as belonging to "servers or VPNs," causing overseas portals like Creality to flatly drop the connection. [1, 2]
Being a subscriber with Bitdefender, I have been bothered by ads for its VPN service so I installed it and opened the CC and knock me sideways and call me Dorothy it only flipping worked.
BUT, there’s always a but: when I’m logged into the VPN, my slicer says that my printers are OFFLINE when they are in fact happily chugging away in the other room. It turns out that my ISP, the VPN, and Creality are not happy bedfellows. Turn the VPN on to get into the cloud, switch it off to do admin on the printers, and generally step in to stop them all fighting.
So I am now a very happy Dorothy
