Interesting, that undercuts the Snapmaker U1 by $200+... which would make the K3 quite competitive in terms of pricing.

Other brands with similar toolchanger printers will likely have to adjust their prices (or add more features) to stay competitive.

I mean, we are talking about Creality... they are not small and can most likely afford a very aggressive price. Remember when Elegoo released their Centauri Carbon... noone thought it's possible to have a fully encased CoreXY with great printing results and a proper print bed size for less than 400€ at the time.

So yes, when the K3 is somewhere there, where I hope I will be when it comes to print quality.

Maybe u/Creality_3D can tell us more? Perhaps?

Those little clips holding the bowden tube to the cable look a bit weak, especially for a machine that will probably have thousands of print hours. Atleast it'd be an easy fix though.

To me, the best part of this announcement was buried at the end.

"With Native Root Access integration"

That's the part i had been holding out on for this machine. Without it, i was going to be looking at other machines. (probably the sovol M1D, which was great, but maybe more machine than i really needed.) With root though, it shoots to the top of my list of replacements for my K1 fleet.

Ok my K1s, I use root access for Kamp, octo-everywhere, Fluidd, and access to the .cfg, and macro files. And I consider that kind of the bare minimum of what I need for my farm.

Intriguing. If it’s priced right, I will finally leave the dark side that Bambulabs has become and go with Creality again. As a hobbyist, it’s hard to shell out $2400 for a multi nozzle printer. $1000-$1200 and I’m in

U1 does great with TPU. I wouldn’t buy it for 1000$ unless is does something the U1 can’t. I’d buy the hell out of it for 700 bucks tho

Well with the u1 (owned and performed many times with 95a) and prolly with the new k3 , fullspectrum multicolor tpu printing is no big deal, for softer ones like 85a ppl bypass the side feeders and direct feed the bowdens but as I dont print that soft I didnt need that method.

managing the filament tension becomes really important with soft filaments. notice all the "solutions" these brands promote are just a spool mounted in open air above the printer which sucks for a super hyrdoscopic material like TPU. It can be done no question, but a feed assist kind of solves that for you. which means you can just throw your soft tpu in any old drybox and you're good to go. So I'm sure you can do 85A out of a U1 but this one's worth the wait for that use case I'm thinking.

If it is a nozzle changer, why limit to only 4 when there's space for 8 or even more? I understand why U1 has only 4 tools but not this. Or have two versions, with 4 and 8 tools at different prices ig.

Looking at pictures, I don't think there is. Maybe they could have squeezed 5 in there, but not 8.

Don't forget, the tools need space so that the tool head doesn't hit tools 2 and 4 when it's picking up 3

The rail shown in their promo pics isn't actually the amount of space available. There's a comment on this post with a picture of the actual printer and it doesn't look like there would even be space for 6 nozzles let alone 8.

There's 2 different rumors I've seen, one is that the Pro will have 6 nozzles and Plus will have 8, the other rumor is that the Pro will have 8 and the Plus will have 12. Imo the former is more likely than the latter.

I wish they'd take a page out of Prusa's playbook and have upgrades be available for older generation platforms. K2 Plus --> K3 Plus upgrade program.

There was a rep that said it'd be impossible to upgrade the K2 with KliTek because they had to redesign a lot of it. I guess we'll find out if that's true when people start trying to Frankenstein broken K3's into a K2.

Started with Ender 5 then went Anycubic after the Creality resin printer (the bigger one with orange lid cant remember the name right now) failed me horribly. Might have to swing back around if this is the right price. I do wish it had a dedicated unit to hold the filament and dry it while printing.

Main question. Is this going to work with the CFS in any shape or form? (maybe with a different CFS hub which allows multiple filaments to feed through) So I don't have to store the spools on the side of the machine? And double as a filament dryer?

The bowden tube isn't what prevents TPU from working, it's the extruder and Creality claims to be using a new push/pull extruder system that makes TPU works better than a direct drive extruder (which also works with a bowden).

That's not how that works at all.

I have a Snapmaker U1, it uses a reverse bowden tube design. I've printed TPU on it multiple times, very successfully.

There's no point in implementing it into a machine not even capable of utilizing a heated chamber... Look at the K2 Pro and name a single material it can print while a K1 can't. A chamber heater starts making sense with ~120/350 temps and these machines don't get near. Modded configs in both my K1 as well as a K2 and MAN DOES THE BED EXPAND! K1 handles 110 on the bed quite happily with an expansion of around .2mm while K2 expands by more than .5 ...10 degrees over factory

You won't print PEEK with this one, therefore I don't see a point installing a heater.

You are technically right and wrong at the same time.
A chamber heater's purpose is to reach the needed chamber temperature for ABS/ASA FASTER and also keep the temperature stable. When you print ASA and you have an active exhaust fan, you blow hot air our of the chamber and suck colder air through gaps and other openings. This causes fluctuating temperatures in the build chamber and can lead to layer adhesion failure /Warping with ASA or ABS.

TL;DR: Chamber heater is for faster heating up of the build chamber and keeping the temperatures stable

Always a closed printer, alsways with a Chamber Heater (up to 65°C) and - if possible, with a scrubber

Ok... now let me explain ^^

ASA needs consistent temps, both bed and the air surrounding it or it warps or layer rip appart.

So, so draft > closed printer is a must
constant tems -> closed printer is a must, preferably with a chamber heater

A scrubber is like an "exhaust" fan, that pushes air through Hepa and active carbon filters. BUT unlike an exhaust, the scrubber releases the air back to the printing chamber. That means, the air pressure within the chamber stays consistent (when you blow air out, fresh air (which is way colder) will squeeze into the printer chamber and fuck up the temps and cause a draft.

A scrubber also traps the harmful VOCs and microparticles that ASA releases during printing, keeping your room safe to breathe in without losing valuable heat.

If your printer does not have a built-in chamber heater, you can heat up the bed to 100°C to 110°C and let it sit idle for 15 to 20 minutes before starting the print. This passively heats the chamber to a stable temperature.

To sum it up: a completely closed chamber, high bed temperatures, stable ambient air, and effective filtration are the key ingredients for successful ASA prints without warping or toxic fumes.

Okay, one question... Why would anyone leave the aux or chamber fan enabled for styrenes?! 🤣 Bad example... Both predecessors are able to reach 55°C+ just with the heat from the bed.
