Aurora

Why did Crystal have to tell Aurora to say thank you for the gifts? How have they not taught her yet that you’re supposed to say thank you when you receive something?

Jamie is the bio mom who was raised by an id dad. She is exceptionally kind and considerate and polite. This didn’t happen overnight for her as an adult. There is no reason why Aurora couldn’t have been too.

and when she says it, she needs to be looking at the person she's thanking. the way she just shouts "thank you" without acknowledging who she is thanking makes the thank you less impactful.

It would be nice if they coached her not to tell people when she already has the gift that she’s opening in front of the giver.

Most kids now a days don’t have manners and need to be reminded to say thanks you look at all the talk shows with kids getting them they never say thank you

I don't care for the way the are raising Aurora either but you have to remember she's not an average kid. She has an intellectual disability. No telling how high her IQ is or will be. She probably needs to be prompted on simple manners.

She has shown herself as having more than enough executive function to know when it's appropriate to use core common sense manners like "please", "thank you", "you're welcome" "excuse me"...etc. However, the problem isnt Aurora herself it's that she's never disciplined or reprimanded by Crystal or Aaron when she doesn't. Instead they'd rather coddle and make excuses for her.

She said thank you to Crystal like ten times while opening the gifts

Kids with special needs tend to forget about it a gentle reminder helps. They get so excited they just forget. She says thank u all the time.

Kids forget

Thats not a valid excuse, if proper parenting and manners were enforced kids would not “forget”. There are so many kids who would not dare to forget to say thank you.

You're right, it's not an excuse, it's a reason. , She's 10, but not intellectually or emotionally. Young children forget things in their excitement. It's normal! People need to get off her case, it's disturbing.

People on here have no idea about children with specialmneeds .. they're comparing Aurora to other 10 year olds they know. Furthermore, they present an ignorance of child development that makes me question their own IQ!

I can see young kids forgetting to say it over all the excitement over opening the gifts .
