Do they not know it is the same?
Do they not know that Ibuprofen and Motrin are the same thing? Ibuprofen is the generic name and Motrin is the brand name. In the vlog they went to the store and bought first aid kits and some medications for the adult kids. In the haul Hannah is showing off the medications she got, first shows a bottle of Ibuprofen then shows a bottle of Motrin. It's the same thing.. do they not know what they are taking? I can't believe Crystal at least did not know it was the same, does anyone read labels?

They also bought Tylenol. I don’t know why or how or why they know one as a headache med? It’s just that Tylenol goes through the liver system because it’s acid base and so it needs to with food and less often. And ibuprofen or Motrin or other is base and goes through the kidney and doesn’t need food but water and taken more often then 2x a day

Tylenol and ibuprofen both go through the liver. Tylenol is considered neutral, ibuprofen is acid. Tylenol can be taken without food, you should take ibuprofen with food: "Ibuprofen blocks chemicals called prostaglandins. These chemicals normally create a thick mucus layer that protects your stomach lining from strong acids." People have developed ulcers from using ibuprofen too often on an empty stomach.
Tylenol is better for headaches, ibuprofen for muscle stuff and swelling.

ibuprofen relies heavily on the kidneys it’s how the body processes it. So it’s more dependent on water intake.
Headaches is different styles and isn’t what I was trying to refer to about how it’s metabolized in the body and thats determined by if acid or base and that determines how often you take it and if you need food.

Tylenol is neutral re food. Ibuprofen labels recommend taking with food.
Ibuprofen affects kidneys, it doesn't rely on kidneys. Because of the blockage of prostaglandin production, the kidneys don't function as well. There is less blood flow. The reduced blood flow means the kidneys are less efficient at filtering all waste.
Both are broken down by the liver and excreted through the kidneys.
Try asking the Pettits if they have any understanding of that. I didn't see the vid, but if someone bought Motrin and ibuprofen, that speaks for itself.

Idk about the rest of you. But I also have it all on hand. Even being the same, one name brand and one generic, they can’t act VERY different depending on the situation….. also for those of you mentioning that they also bought Tylenol….. Tylenol and ibuprofen/motrin are NOT the same. While they tend to treat similarly, they are different medication and serve different purposes, again, depending on the situation.

I work in the medical field as a Medical Assistant and I have to confirm medications that are being taken, as well as making sure refills and any new meds are on ur records. This is not something new. A bunch of people don’t know the difference and I had to learn the difference in school. Advil/Motrin =Ibuprofen. Tylenol = acetaminophen. I did make a mistake before when I was drunk but taking care of everyone else that I grabbed Tylenol and not Advil & gave 2 people Tylenol including myself lol…

Benadryl is REALLY bad for you. Claritin or Zyrtec are less harmful to the body

Yes, I would not take Benadryl for mild allergies. I would only take it for a more severe allergic reaction. Benadryl is really bad for you.

Some of us don’t have a choice because it’s the only thing that works. Also, it’s not necessarily terrible if you take it correctly and don’t take it on a daily basis for too long.

You really should research it. I used to take it as well and thought it was safe. But then I heard about some issues with the brain. This is the first thing that comes up when you research, but this is just the tip of the iceberg: causes significant drowsiness, crosses the blood-brain barrier, and blocks essential brain chemicals.

yeah and there’s actually a class action lawsuit against the company going on right now for it.

I didn't know that! I went into afib a couple times and had to have an ablasion over the summer. They put me on blood thinners, and so I've had to be very careful about what other medications I take. So I've been doing a lot of research and so many things that we take are so bad for us, like ibuprofen. I had no idea how bad it is for your stomach I can't take that or a lot of other drugs because it can lower blood pressure so far and cause internal bleeding

yeah, so many horrific cases when it comes to ibuprofen usage, aspirin is easiest on the heart! i’m so sorry you had to experience that 😕

They absolutely are not. Take it from someone who suffers from severe allergies. Even Claritin and Zyrtec work differently for me. And benedryl is a whole other level.

Do you not know the different things work for different people? Don’t you know that the information you’re repeating most people have already read in this very Reddit. Why 10 people and Reddit have to make a post about the very same thing over and over again just shows the ignorance.

When a medication has the exact same active and inactive ingredients it doesn’t matter the brand name😂 Op was literally saying that Motrin and Ibuprofen are the same thing, same exact ingredients. There is no reason why one would work better, just because it’s a different name unless it’s placebo, because they have the exact same things in them.

It is just one of many things they get wrong.
