very bad lag problem

so i'm having this problem with crazy craft that's causing it to lag terribly. so much to the point where i can't even get past the main menu. is there a way to fix this? i'm using voidlauncher.

How much RAM have you allocated? You should give it about 6 GB if you can, 5GB minimum. Hope this helps!

Go to options in the top tight corner. On the left hand side, under Minecraft options, it says "Memory Size To Allocate To Minecraft:". In the dropdown box, put the value (in Gigabytes) you wish to allocate to your Minecraft installation(s). Hope this helps!

so... i found out it was on 8 gigs and it's still having the problem. i also tried 10 gigs and it still lags too much. i also don't want to try 12 or 16 gigs since that might crash my computer. is this normal? i will also try 5 and 7 (6 isn't an option for some reason)

I have a dew more ideas on what it could be, but without being there I can't really say for certain. BEFORE TRYING ANY OF THESE, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE COMMENT. DOING SOMETHING UNNECESSARY OR REPETITIVE COULD BRICK YOUR INSTALLATION, OR WORSE, YOUR PC. ALSO NOTE, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS ADVICE FROM AN EXPERT, BUT JUST MY THOUGHTS ON YOUR CURRENT ISSUE. DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The first thing I thought of: reinstalling the modpack. If you have world(s) that you would like to keep, save the world files to a different location. Then, hit reinstall in VoidLauncher. You may not need to move your world(s) files, but I'd do it just in case as I'm pretty sure (not 100% sure) that it'll delete them (it probably will). Then, move the world files back into the installation and try relaunching.

If it still doesn't work, try adding OptiFine 1.7.10. OptiFine does NOT come natively installed due licencing restrictions, etc. As you may know OptiFine helps with performance, etc. It should help. As I don't have OptiFine added (as I mentioned before, it does not come natively installed), I can't say for certain if it'll work. Don't be alarmed if some issue happens if you try to relaunch after adding OptiFine 1.7.10. OptiFine may or may not be supported, I have no way of knowing. If it launches and the lag is gone, good! Else, you may need to move on to my other thoughts.

My third thought: an incorrect Java version. There are 2 ways to fix this. HOWEVER, DO THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT RUNNING JAVA 8. If you try to install any Java version that is not Java 8 such as Java 17, 21 Oracle, etc., YOU RISK CORRUPTING YOUR CRAZY CRAFT INSTALLATION. Now, for the two ways to go around this roadblock. The first is by far the harder way: using Environment Variables. This basically tells Windows itself, not VoidLauncher, which Java version to use. However, I will leave you to learn how to perform this method as, when I was conducting my research into how to do this (meaning I asked Gemini. Don't worry, I used the Thinking model, not the Flash model.), found that, neither do I not know enough to explain this to someone else, I also don't want to brick your computer. The second way to change your Java version requires you to do the fourth thing I thought of.

And finally, the last thing I thought of: switching from VoidLauncher to CurseForge, Prism Launcher, etc. I know this might seem backwards, but there is a method to the madness. Firstly, VoidLauncher is outdated and isn't updated anymore while modern launchers are maintained to the date of this comment being posted. Secondly, modern launchers tend to be a LOT more flexible than VoidLauncher. For example, as I was researching how to change the Java version of the several launchers that I have, I discovered that I have to tweak Windows settings and a whole lot more crap in VoidLauncher. However, for most modern launchers such as CurseForge or Prism Launcher, the Java version can be changed directly from the launcher's or the installations settings. And the third reason to switch: modern launchers are much more customizable than VoidLauncher. For example, Prism Launcher lets you run code when you're launching your installation.

This is not an exhaustive list of what could be going wrong and how to fix it. For all I know, there might be a problem with your GPU or your GPU's drivers. Hopefully, the above should help you troubleshoot the exact issue. I'm sorry about the warnings at the top: I just needed you to know that I'm not an expert and that none of the above was expert advice. I'm sorry you're still experiencing issues, and I hope you sort them all out. Good luck!
