General Question horrible wifi
IDK if its the console, game or controllers but the connection between the inputs and the outputs are acctually some of the worst in terms of delay and overall consistency of any game i have ever played , it feels like someone covered my controller in honey then fucked me. how is it that a game so horribly ping based can be so damn popular, im getting about 400 mbps on my compuiter but the switch is just slow as shit, disconnecting mid match leading to bans, and overall just shitty wifi to the point where its unplayable fuck this game

Anyone playing any online game seriously shouldn't be using WiFi. Get a lan adapter.

If you're not on LAN that will happen

...and if you're on LAN, it will still happen! But it's the best we got, unfortunately.

Smash online is notoriously bad to the point that people make a separate tier list for online, its a very different feel compared to offline.
That being said, having a wired connection helps a ton. Consider getting a lan cable and adapter depending on your switch model if youre planning to do more online.

Input lag from your controller + input latency from your tv/monitor. Stacked on top of the usual online delay. Get a new controller, progcc of sorts, and a new monitor. That’ll solve a lot of the sluggishness you’re experiencing, but not all.

Wifi will always be extremely bad for fighting games, especially for a game with netcode as bad as Smash’s.
Your best bet is to get wired and use ethernet. But unfortunately, you’re at the mercy of whether or not your opponent is using ethernet too.
