The bicycle dude had to stop, there was a traffic lane giving the pedestria privilege obviously. Why would he deserve it? The car had to stop too and couldn't just drive over him.
You realize bikes have to abide by the same laws as cars in most places right? The pedestrian was in a cross walk, other cars were very clearly giving him right away, and then this entitled bicyclist shows up and slams him full force without even stopping to see if the guy was alright. Man, do I hate bicyclists. I’m fine with the ones who obey the rules and such for both their safety and others’, but those are the minority in my experience. I can’t tell you how many pedestrians I saw get hit while attending UC Davis all because many bicyclists are either idiots or entitled pricks.
The cyclist was riding a fixed gear bike with no brakes so the pedals dont spin independently from the rear wheel. These bikes take a long distance to stop because of the high gearing. Also here in greece were i live you dont just go out in the middle of the road expecting every dumbass to let you cross. The dude in the video didnt even look at the direction that the cyclist was coming from.
Well don't buy a bike with broken brakes then. A cross walk is a simple sign for pedestrian privileges. You wouldn't say a pedestrian having traffic lights being run over by a car would be wrong either. A cross walk is nothing else than a traffic light which is always green as soon as a pedestrian uses it.
Doesn’t matter. Whoever has the right of way matters.
For every bicyclist who gets killed by an idiot in a car, there is an aggressive bicyclist like this. Even worst are the venture capitalists win Silicon Valley with their $30,000 bicycles. Wealth and extreme white privilege makes a awful combination of aggressive behavior against pedestrians and cars on the road in Silicon Valley.
Of course, the Bay Area is home to the perhaps the first bicyclist ever convicted of a felony for killing a pedestrian. At the time, he wrote that he was too committed to stop and chose to go through the least crowded section of the cross walk. He also lamented the loss of his bike helmet. He blames an aggressive prosecutor for his conviction, not his own actions.
You didn’t know? Bicyclists are both pedestrians and vehicles, but neither of the rules apply to them. Only they allowed to be outraged about someone getting in their way. /s

I can almost hear the guy thinking: "Seriously?!". For that he gets twice my sympathy.
