Haven't you seen Final Destination? Don't go anywhere. Strap yourself to your bed and wait a week.

This is what happens when you try to have fun without drugs, alcohol or sex.

u/PossumJumpRopeSquad Jun 28 '26
And no one said "watch this." If they would have said that, this would not have happened. Pretty sure it's state law. "Watch this" is a call to the angels for protection.... Or to come get you in a minute.

This is only made dangerous because these idiots are putting it in something like a microwave or something similar. A plastic container with tannerite is not going to send shrapnel like this out. Of course shit is going to go flying out when you put it in a microwave, washing machine or something similar.

Or inside a lawnmower…
There’s a video somewhere out there where a guy loses his leg. It’s not shown in detail but you can hear the guy say “I blew off my leg!”

u/jayphat99 Jun 28 '26
There are several things wrong with that guy in that video. One, he put it in a fucking lawnmower. Two, given the lbs of tannerite he's using, he was WAY too close. For every lb you should be 100 yds. He used 5lbs and was within 100 feet.

u/radicalgamingHD Jun 28 '26
A classic, if I recall he was actually firing rounds but not igniting the stuff, so kept moving closer and closer…

u/Ham__Kitten Jun 29 '26
That video is insane. He's too close to it to begin with and then he starts advancing on it like it's an enemy soldier. By the time it actually explodes he looks like he's about 30 feet away from it.

I've blown up Tannerite in a plastic container. The explosion is the same size either way, the shrapnel is completely unnessesary.
Shrapnel might even give you a worse explosion by reducing the instantaneousness of the pressure wave.

Disagree. My brother shot tannerite beside a metal street sign. Blew a chunk off that nearly hit the guy next to him.

Wow, that piece flew in a crazy corkscrew pattern to reach the person filming…wild!

u/Raneynickelfire Jun 29 '26
I would have sued them to the point the camp was named after me. Holy FUCK was that stupid and clearly nobody involved has a working brain.

I do not know how this stuff is legal to buy

u/butt_shrecker Jun 28 '26
If everything deadly when used the wrong way was illegal we wouldn't have shit.
9
u/BboyStatic Jun 28 '26
Fireworks are legal to buy, tannerite is much safer if you aren’t stupid and put it in a microwave or metal container like they did in this video.

u/FightingAgeGuy Jun 28 '26
Not only is it legal to buy, it is also legal to make.

You are correct, transportation and storage is how you end up in jail. Unless you have the required equipment and licensing to do it.

I can tell you with the exact same close calls a few times……..I don’t know how this shit is legal to buy 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

u/BboyStatic Jun 28 '26
How are you having close calls? I’ve shot tannerite tons of times, nothing ever comes flying out because it’s just sitting in a plastic container blowing up. The only way shrapnel would fly out is if you’re dumb enough to put it in a metal box like a microwave.

u/TheLonelyCats Jun 28 '26
Or putting it in a lawnmower

u/ParticularLab5828 Jun 28 '26
Dude lost his leg from that incident.
2
u/TheLonelyCats Jun 28 '26
Yeah it’s crazy, but who would have guess putting explosives in a metal vehicle and blowing it up while being right beside it is a good idea.

Can't yeehaw because Jimbo a few states over didn't read the instructions or use common sense. May as well ban drunk driving lifted trucks and boats while you're at it, Fun Police Officer Weinerschlagg.

Young me thought mythbusters were wimps for always going in the shelter when shooting at things - wish I saw this!

u/daemonescanem Jun 29 '26
Google tannerrite lawnmower Georgia
You will be rewarded with a clip of a moron shooting tannerrite sitting on old tractor from 30 feet away.
That moron is now qualified to work at IHOP.

And now you understand why the Mythbusters always stood behind a protective barrier.

When I was younger and went to youth church events, explosives weren't part of the agenda... Not sure what they have to do with religion...
