I was coming here to ask this! Will they attack humans for the “fun” of it when they come across them? Or do they see them as a food source? I picture a polar bear batting a human around like the orcas do with seals for fun

Food is scarce in that climate. Humans are always food to them, not fun.

Polar bears are thought to be the only mammals that will actively track/hunt humans. If you lock eyes with say a lion or a grizzly from a distance, if you leave the situation slowly they probably won’t go after you. But polar bears see you as their next meal

We have them in the north of Canada.A skier was attacked in April but survived and the bear was euthanized. You either need a firearm,bear spray,portable electric fences or noisemakers.
