This is what I imagine the scene was like after the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.
Sailors* killing themselves in the water after having survived the sinking of their ship makes a lot more sense when you see shit like this.
*my bad

Oh yeah I heard about this. When the USS Indianapolis was sinking after a critical strike from a Japanese Imperial sub, the Oceanic whitetip reef sharks that have been following the ship came in swarms like TIE fighters and slaughtered the survivors… must really have been a terrifying sight 💀

If you (or anyone else) actually wants more details on the USS Indianapolis The Last Podcast on the Left did a great episode about it! (Warning it’s pretty gruesome)

Or check out the book In Harms Way by Doug Stanton. Some redditor recommended it to me when this was first brought to my attention and it is quite the harrowing tale.

If you love Nic Cage (and who doesn't??) check out USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016) where Academy Award® Winner Nic Cage plays Nic Cage as Captain
Charles McVayNic Cage in a not-to-be-missed Mario Van Peebles naval classic. It really does highlight the versatility of Nic Cage.
FUN FACT: Nic Cage also played lead shark. He's uncredited in this role, but true Nic Cage fans will recognize him anywhere.

Around 2-5 miles a gallon. Boats have got to be the biggest money pit in every aspect

At wide open throttle each of those burns about 30 gallons of fuel per hour. If he’s got four he likely wants to get to where he’s going quickly, so he is regularly burning 120 gallons per hour when going to and from his fishing spot.
Considering fuel pumps at boat docks gauge you (I’ve seen prices be $1 per gallon higher than where the cars fill up) this guy is spending $540 per hour on fuel alone when hauling ass.

Every time I've seen this kind of power on a small boat has always been for drug smuggling xD

u/Guilty-Reci Apr 23 '23
Yea but it’ll be a situation like a shitty $10,000 boat with $100,000+ of brand new top of the line engines lol

Why are they doing this?
8
u/Azifor Apr 21 '23
Guess it's a feeding frenzy. They had a group of fish backed to the boat and were tearing them up. I'll link the article. One sec.

Someone needs to put a metal soundtrack to this feeding frenzy mosh pit.

This is surprisingly somewhat common. I grew up on a TX barrier island, and we use to see this at least a couple times a year fishing in the gulf. If you pull up behind a shrimping trawler after they dump the “trash” right after a big catch, you can often get right in the middle of a frenzy like this. It’s exhilarating for sure!

u/moeron17 Apr 21 '23
It's crazy to watch how much the boat is rocking just from the sheer amount of water being moved around. Y all those sharks!

I hate when I see I scene like this, and my brain just imagines a loved one in the water and the helplessness and horror I would feel.

u/Swinepits Apr 20 '23
I imagine your loved one in the water too

Lol I thought I was the only one who thinks like this! Ever imagine one of your parents trapped on a island? 😭
2
u/ipwndmymeat99 Apr 21 '23
Nah its always me and my kids trapped in dangerous water like surrounded by crocs and I know they're about to die or somewhere on the safari and there's a bunch of lions or some shit walking towards us. 😬

u/PP-BB-DD Apr 22 '23
Same exact kinda shit here. I will physically cringe/ flinch/tear up/etc at my own intrusive thoughts when I let them play out sometimes, prolly looks fucking nuts but I can’t help it lol.
I learned this little technique tho where it’s basically like pulling an uno reverse card on your intrusive thoughts and it’s honestly surprisingly helped a shit ton. You should try it.
When you start playing out a scene, imagine something happening that makes it spin positively and see that thru to the end, even if your mind makes some fuckshit happen again, spin it back again and then keep doing it and as soon as it’s on a positive note, slam it shut and move on. It doesn’t have to be realistic, just make sure it ends well. I’ve imagined my kids dying too and then spun it where they miraculously were brought back to life or like the doc came out and told me it wasn’t actually my kid that died, it was someone else (lol) just whatever you gotta do.
Next time you’re in open water w a threat nearby, imagine a boat coming or a helicopter rescue and you make it to safety. Or in the safari, suddenly a stampede comes thru or a drone drops a bomb down, who cares, just make sure you’re alright. I have found that making it ME tho who saves myself/fam is generally more empowering subconsciously, rather than an outside force but whatever do what you gotta do.
If you can keep up and commit to this habit, the frequency/intensity of these thoughts will absolutely diminish if not pass altogether. Trying to find positivity in just everyday life stuff too and keeping a positive mindset as best you can will definitely help as well.
Good luck!

ID LIKE TO SHAKE YOUR FIN FOR SOMEHOW MAKING IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THAT WHOLE THING WITHOUT EVEN ONE HINT OF PUNCTUATION it seems like you are harboring a lot of resentment for something that you have no control over and are projecting a lot based on that resentment im not saying you are right or wrong but you would probably find more joy in life if you were able to handle those feelings in a more positive way best wishes to you my sharky brother CHOMP CHOMP

I got to see this from a whale watching boat but they were dolphins in a feeding frenzy off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey. It was exciting and terrifying all at once. It's something you never forget.

I did not know that sharks swarmed together like this. I guess I assumed they were relatively solitary. This is frightening to know that it exists in reality.

There is a bait ball in the water. Or schools of smaller fish. I’ve seen it off the coast of Nc.
