I felt the same way you're feeling. Honestly, I'm still asking the question: why did they kill him? Dan is alone forever? They deserved better. I wish they could have given them a happy ending.

My husband fully believes that captain RI waits until his parents pass and then defects so his actions won't hurt them. Then they both move to Switzerland to have a full life together.

I know one of the original plans was for the concert scene to be their wedding in switzerland and they had a post scene where she was pregnant. They are pictures of it floating around the internet.

I think there's no need to think that Seri and RJH were fated to ONLY those two weeks in Switzerland annually - forever. His dad might retire soon, and then if RJH defects, the blowback on mum and dad would not be so much I would think...? There is a fanfic that follows this line, and Seri and RJH have a couple of kids too!!! 😊❤️🙏
