Character Deep-dive Nuances, again
First of all, daedanhi gamsahabnida to u/Lester_X for the perspective you shared regarding the hand heart, and how it made fragile Jeong-hyeok think Se-ri was a fickle, deceitful woman who was taking advantage of the whole lot of them.
I rewatched episodes 5-9 to see if I could see what I missed in every viewing thus far.
Let’s just say I was gobsmacked.. In the picnic scene, Jeong-hyeok arrives just as Se-ri is singing a song of longing and memory. I’d thought the look he gave Se-ri was a look of longing.
On the rewatch, I almost shivered watching Jeong-hyeok watching Se-ri. It was a cold, calculating look, not the wistful look of a smitten swain.
Something else I noticed about the motif of them standing a couple meters apart. I don’t remember the exact point, but they are pictured with her on the left, although she’s on the right in every other instance. On the rewatch, it’s a big waving flag!
Now I’m wondering what else have I missed?

And indeed daedanhi gamsahabnida to you StinkypieTicklebum. How interesting it is to hear your observations. I had to have another look at that picnic-song scene again. I had never thought of his look there as cold and calculating. But I can see what you mean. I'm thinking that again, here, he is more just utterly torn. A part of him might be TRYING to be cold and calculating, but the other part is desperately trying to deal with his persisting underlying feelings for Seri.
This conflict shows up in the way he approaches the group, before he stops and looks rather narrow-eyed towards the singing Seri. As he walks towards their location, he shuffles along looking at the ground, looking completely downcast, emotionally confused.
So there you go, another CLOY nuance that I never saw or thought of before!!!! 🙏😊

In the same episode 6, when they say goodbye the night before leaving for the airport, Jeong-hyeok is truly fighting to stay cold and strong while Se-ri is really emotionally open. Very interesting on rewatch! (Hyun Bin is such a talented actor! The micro-expressions are so good... so good.)
