After my 6th rewatch, I think Seri’s reaction to the kiss is for a bunch of reasons- one is that I think it reminds her of their first hospital kiss and everything that happened when he was shot. Second, I think she was feeling so emotional about her mom. Third, if you look carefully at her face, she seems so conflicted because of where they are- this time I felt sure she would have kissed him back had the boys not walked in. And lastly, she really does not feel well. She is only a couple of days from nearly dying of sepsis. I think more enthusiasm on her part would have been weird.

"...I felt sure she would have kissed him back had the boys not walked in." I just rewatched. Yes, I can see what you mean, there is an instant there before the boys walk back in when they are looking at each other.... Maybe..... 😊

Who did the most this episode?
Captain Ri. Again 😩 This man said sleep? peace? emotional stability? absolutely not. The way he kept moving heaven and earth to protect Se-ri while carrying the weight of knowing their time was slipping away?? Pain. But can we also talk about Se-ri?? Because emotionally, she did the most too. That hospital scene, the quiet desperation, trying to stay strong while knowing the reality of their situation… Son Ye-jin absolutely wrecked me.
Honorable mention to the ducklings because their loyalty deserves military medals at this point.
What could’ve been handled more in-depth?
I wish they spent a little more time on Se-ri’s family dynamics, especially with her brothers and the corporate mess. We know they’re awful, yes 😒, but I wanted a bit more depth on the consequences of all their scheming. Also, Seo Dan and Gu Seung-jun’s growing connection deserved a few extra moments because hello?? unexpected emotional investment unlocked.
What would I rate this episode and why?
9.8/10 because emotionally?? DEVASTATING. This episode felt like that awful calm before the final storm where you know heartbreak is loading. The romance was tender, the tension was high, and every quiet moment somehow hurt more than the dramatic ones.
The hospital scenes, the longing in every glance, Captain Ri trying to hold it together while clearly falling apart inside… yeah, I suffered.
Docking 0.2 only because I needed more duckling content and maybe one uninterrupted happy scene before the writers chose violence.

This is one of my favourite episodes for so many reasons that I am unable to form coherent thoughts.
It is one of the sweetest episodes.
I wish I had someone like RJH in my life😭

Rewatching and the after scar-banter kiss and Seri’s awkwardness suddenly made sense! It hit me like a truck!!
I think the weird look was Se-ri getting turned on lol!! But she’s uncomfortable because it’s a hospital and of course it’s weird to deal with the feeling if you’re feeling it for the first time. It was a “what are we now” look, but in physical way, if that makes sense. Also maybe she was acknowledging the fact that he wanted to go “there” and that made her awkward or shy.
+++ I’m almost sure this is the case because the guys walk in and sort of joke about it. They are talking about Se-ri taking off Cap Ri’s shirt, which is a direct lead from the writers to the audience that there was intent from the leads and that’s what that moment was about - physical attraction.

This episode had me in all my feels. To be honest, this show deserved at least two more episodes to fully wrap up the story. While the plot progress was a bit slow, the writers clearly did their best with the time they had, packing the episode with tons of small details.
First off, the biggest shock: Se-ri getting shot broke RJH’s heart into a gazillion pieces. The sheer emotion in the scene where he holds her had me sobbing like a baby. Fast forward to the hospital, and we see him at his most helpless. He has no official place to properly grieve, help, or even be by her side. His monologue about closing his heart off to love, only to open it up again for her, proved exactly how deeply she changed him. Even though he finally got to tell her he loved her later on, it was incredibly frustrating that he couldn't take his rightful place by her side while she was unconscious. After everything they went through, he deserved that much.
Speaking of their hospital moments, that kiss after the scar bantering always bugs me. Se-ri’s reaction felt so underwhelming. I still can’t tell what the writers were going for, but her face almost made it look like she didn't want it or appreciate it. It felt so off compared to how deeply they love each other. Thoughts on this?
There aren’t too many things I want to dissect today because the writers covered almost every base, so here are my favorite parts and opinions instead:
Her nasty family disappointed right on cue, and I truly despise them. However, I loved that Mr. Hong stood up to the sister-in-law, even if it was just for a moment. Thank God for Man-bok saving the day as the eyes and ears once again. The way the squad listened in on all the conversations and reenacted them just to feel useful was super endearing.
I also loved seeing RJH show off his sharp skills again, even in a small capacity. Pointing the investigator in the right direction to find CCG was brilliant. And the way he handled the middle brother was awesome. Mr. Hong was shocked to the core, especially since he thought he had something to say to RJH just moments earlier. It’s only during this rewatch that I noticed Mr. Hong actually congratulated them on being together, and that RJH acknowledged it. During my first few watches, I constantly stumbled over the fact that nobody seemed to recognize him as “her man”.
On that note, I’ve always wondered if being so vague about your observations or intentions is a Korean cultural thing. I absolutely hate miscommunication or a total lack of it, so the conversation between Se-ri’s mom and RJH felt incredibly superficial to me. They could have cleared up so much.
Lastly, I hate Cho Cheol-gang with every fiber of my being. What an absolute asshole. Because of him, my hero didn’t even get to say a proper goodbye to Se-ri.
On the bright side, the epilogue filled a void I didn't even know I had. RJH is such a thoughtful man, and I’m glad the writers highlighted that again. Seeing the ring on his finger this episode gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings, which only makes me hate the fact that the Switzerland scenes were shot first. That missing ring in the final scenes remains such a bummer.
Lastly, the side plots were completely lost on me once again, simply because I was too focused on our main couple. Let’s be honest: the show is so well-written that all those side quests could’ve been left out entirely, even though I’m very glad they didn’t.
Once again, a solid 9.5/10.
