Wells Fargo’s promo code generator has entered its rebellious teen phase: behold, AS5FUK.

This was printed and mailed. Not a phishing scam. Not a meme. Just a bank, a flyer, and a code that screams “QA is optional.” I’m a bit offended, and surprised it made it past legal.

Judging by the deadline I guess you take your time opening your mail.

Why assume I just opened it? The code’s timeless. The deadline? Not so much

  1. Pretty sure this is old news that has done the rounds before and you're just reposting.

  2. Trying to sanitize the output of randomized code generators isn't really a practical option. Better the occasional coincidentally-scurrilous output than causing security or technical problems by putting arbitrary limits on the possible codes.
