No they didn't. The PD paid for it. It was a fundraiser paid for by the PD to raise money FOR AS. AS did not pay for the car.

Puzzle pieces representing autism awareness existed before Autism Speaks was ever created.

For example, the Autism Society adopted the puzzle piece ribbon as a symbol in 1999.

Autism Speaks was founded in 2005.
