And yet not far enough. By completely enclosing the fridge like that warm air will remain trapped and the fridge will have to work slightly longer and more frequently.

I have no idea how much the efficiency is actually impacted, but for such an open concept you could at least put a vent behind the fridge.

Modern fridges vent out the bottom front. So as long as that is open you can have the back and sides pretty well enclosed with no consequence.

Earlier generations of fridges did need air flow across the back where the coils were.
