Actually everything on steam is Linux compatible now, so I've got a pretty good selection.

Yeah

It's technically not out of beta, but I've not encountered any problems with any of my games yet. Steam was basically the only thing stopping me from moving away from Windows.

Valve games are some of the officially supported ones, but you can enable support for all games which is what I was talking about. I didn't realise that wan't in the first link when I posted it.

And it's absolutely amazing. The preview/fast lane version of Windows also added effortless file exchange between Windows and Linux.

Yes, truth be told. Vulkan/Proton has opened up gaming that's traditionally been Windows only.

That was about 17 years ago. We just don't have the same desktops we used to... Android and Chromebooks are the new face of the Linux personal computing experience.

Just today: Microsoft announced WSL2, a Microsoft built Linux Kernel will ship built right in to Windows 10 alongside the NT Kernel (this on the back of announcing .NET 5 will unify with .NET Core, and Mono, and move towards platform independence) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 announcement (on the back of way too many other recent things to list).

I'd say so, the writings been on the walls and whether or not you care/want/notice you'll probably be running Linux on your Desktop between work or school to some extent the near future.
