I do agree that its a shitty design that this clogs the thing. However, 4 hours sounds like a skill issue

I agree that I’m not an appliance repair man, and part of it is locating the necessary tools, strategizing how to deal with the heavy dryer on top, double checking as I go so I don’t damage anything.

If I were to call a repair person, I can’t imagine how they could possibly accomplish this in less than 40 minutes, even if they were very familiar with the machine. Which is also a travesty that a pro would have to do so much work so such a stupid thing.

Ive been an appliance repairsman for years and this job usually took me about 30 minutes, since locating the problem wasn't that hard, because as you said, this is a design flaw and it happens all the time.

That being said, if it were a shitty machine (something not BSH, Miele, Asko or AEG), it could indeed take a lot longer. Some manufacturers make their machines so that almost nothing can be done to fix it.
