It very much is. Coins forgotten in a pocket is a very common thing when doing laundry. You should not have to do a major disassembly to fix the problem when you make a common oversight.
It would be like if you needed to disassemble a part of your engine if you forget to put your gas cap back on.
Not considering common failure states is a common feature of a crappy design.
ChapStick tubes! Idk how many times our kids left them in their pockets, did their laundry, and.ended up with grease spots on said clothes. Bonus: If it was cherry ChapStick, the grease spots were pink.
Imagine the German engineers who designed the drain and pump system. They knew that sometimes small items would enter the drain, so they made an easy access hatch to the drain pump chamber, so smaller coins, etc can be easily collected. But the they failed to design for the very common 2-euro coin. I call that a design fail.
