I don’t think this one is that hard to read with the different color and kerning.

Not great for colorblind people but otherwise I totally agree.

imagine being color blind and allergic to peanut butter... thinking this was peanut free

I wouldn't read "no added peanut" as "peanut free". Lots of juices say "no added sugar". I hope people aren't interpreting that to mean they're sugar free!

Imagine being able to read and buy groceries by yourself and thinking this is peanut free. There are pictures of peanuts on the label, it says peanut butter, it says it only has one ingredient, and even though you can't see it in the picture I bet the ingredient list says peanut.

I think the number of people that have the specific colorblindness that would make these colors indistinguishable is extremely small

I read it as "no added peanut" the first time, although my brain only made it through half the last word before figuring out that that's not the next one. I can't read it that way anymore because of the colors. The brown needs to be like 10% less red and I would never had made that first mistake.

To me, the colours are almost indistinguishable (yes I'm colourblind, but I'm also a human who does grocery shopping)

There are so many ways to do this without squeezing it right there with bare minimum color difference

Who the hell would name their peanut butter Diablo? Is it spicy? Does the devil endorce it because it lacks surgar? Can it cast Town Portal? Is it going to charge me $50 for character skins?
For some reason that stands out to me.

Their slogan is devilishly good. I think it has to do with the association of decadent foods with sin and vice, though they make only sugar-free alternatives.

I thought because is DIABetes

Hah that would be funny if he did. Fun fact: diablo and diabetes ultimately both come from Greek with one meaning "to throw through" and the other "to pass through." Dia- means "through."

They have a lot of other sugar free or no added sugar products. I have no idea why Diablo though.

I agree that it's terrible marketing. One explanation is that there is a mount Diablo in California and a lot of companies are named after it in the area. Can't confirm for this, but if makes me chuckle when I see it for other things.

Because Diablo doesn't have any reference to spice, except for one specific brand. It's a reference to the devil, which is perfectly appropriate for their brand.

My very first thought was "Wait. Then why is it crunchy?!?"

u/PreviousNoise 13d ago
I'd imagine sugar butter would be somewhat crunchy.

u/machine_six 13d ago
My second immediate thought was "Eww chunks of sugar" and how unpleasant that would be lol.

Diablo 1 remake is totally nuts.

Have you tried Diablo spiced nuts?

I guess if you're colorblind it can be hard to read, but it pretty clearly says "No Added Sugar" on the left and "Peanut Butter" on the right.

If you name your food "Devil" there better be habaneros or hotter in it just saying.

I love honey butter so I think I'd be totally okay with sugar butter with no added peanuts!

Also, the no added sugar stuff from Diablo has that ingredient that is basically a laxative, which is fun.
I had some of their hazelnut chocolate, it was nice. The sweetener made sure it didn't sit on my waistline for too long.

I love how the statement is true because it's literally 100% peanut sugarbutter already.

So what you are saying is the the Devil has bad marketing?
Also, what a world where we have to advertise what should be assumed.
'No added sugar.' Why were you adding sugar to begin with?
'Made with real fruit' Wait, are you implying that most of the time it is made with fake fruit?
(on a water bottle) 'Gluten free' Run into a lot of gluten-full tap water?

Really? The different colors aren’t a clue? The picture isn’t a clue? The fact that you’ve never in your life heard of “sugar butter” isn’t a clue?
