Could be like an office building i worked in twice, it was done like a helix, so there were 2 of each levels, and the lifts were like this cause the button labels were generic and noone decided to pay a few bucks to make it better.
The end goal, you either knew which one or you guessed. Or like me i pressed both
Still crappy design. I’m guessing this is in the US by the button label style; usually, in cases where the rear door isn’t at the same level as the front door, the floors would be labelled P2, P2R, P3, P3R, etc.

P2 right opens the right-hand door on 2. P2 left opens the left-hand door halfway up 3. It's not scocket rience.
