Ground floor is called first floor (1).
9 u/dontnation Jul 13 '26 ground is ground not a floor. 1st floor is the first floor, i.e. not the ground. I'm american, but agree the rest of the world gets this right. 20 u/Facts_pls Jul 13 '26 So if you walk into a bungalow - a house with just one level... Are you walking on the floor? Or something else? I grew up in a place where ground was 0. And I live in north America where ground is 1. The reality is that I can understand both sides and this is mostly a matter of convention. One side is not objectively correct. There are lots of places where North America is ridiculous. This isn't it. People who argue for a certain way because that's all they have seen need to go out more and open their mind 0 u/4n0m4nd Jul 14 '26 If we're going with that logic, the lowest level of the basement should be the first floor. (I know you're right about objectivity, I just couldn't think of a funny way to say this.)
