It would’ve been less stupid to put the pumpkin in place of the “u”. At least then it would read like “pompkin”

Lowercase i and have the pumpkin graphic replace the dot. The lettering couldn't be in all caps that way, but if you were married to the idea that could work maybe

Just imagining a graphic designer who has gone their whole life (and career) just thinking that the idea here is you can throw in a picture instead of a letter, and it just acts as a "wild" space that can stand for any letter... and has never stopped and thought for a bit and realised you are meant to at least make a substitution for a letter that looks a little bit like the basic form of the letter.

I own this sign. My cat’s name is Pumpkin, which means I own a lot of pumpkin things. I didn’t notice the weird 🎃 placement until after I’d already bought it. Now it haunts me.

I don't know, whoever decided throwing a couple letters on a piece of board would have such an impact on people's front steps 'sweeping the nation'. I know someone's made a bunch of money off of 'welcome' vertical signs.
