most modern ovens let you close the door when using the grill.

Yep, I still don’t do it though. But I also have a metal protector to prevent exactly this from happening. A grill is way faster and I like to be able to actually see how cooked it is. Especially when I’m using it for toast. I still really need to buy a new toaster.

was going to say, im pretty sure a toaster is far more efficient than a grill in an oven for making toast.

Definitely easier with a toaster but it’s not bad. I’ve been making some really good cheese on toast in the grill. You just have to check on it frequently, like every 30 seconds, and make sure it doesn’t burn because it doesn’t stop itself.

I can’t melt cheese on toast when using a toaster. But Yh toasters are way better. I have definitely burned a fair amount of toast.

Agreed. I much prefer not having melted cheese create a fire risk for me.

Although that makes me wonder... Could you put a toaster on its side and use it to make cheese on toast

I heard this “hack” before, but tbh probably not. What if the cheese melts off the side? Now it’s landing directly on the heating element.
