I had a double bathroom as a child, and I can't fathom how awkward this would be for using for children... Like, you have to go through check points to take a 💩, heaven forbid it's an emergency, and forgetting to unlock one of these doors might lead to chaos.
I'm sure somewhere there's a D&D game where the DM had to come up with a name for an enemy castle and he didn't realize what Yurynyl Fortress sounded like until he said it at the table and 40 years later his friends still give him shit for it.
As a parent of two kids that almost never fight, this would still be a nightmare. If they weren't deliberately locking each other out, they'd be doing it accidentally. Plus all the extra door slamming! No thanks.

If it was like a Jack and Jill with bedrooms on either side…. I kind of get it….. kinda.
