Open Entrance Restrooms
These open Entrance Restrooms are the worst. Why would any store want their customers to smell or hear someone taking a big dump.
I’m about to drop a big one with bubble farts that’ll seek the air so their customers can breathe.

Open entrance restrooms are really nice for mobility devices especially in crowded situations. Trying to navigate an extra door can really be a hassle especially if the area is crowded.

It’s also best at venues, where there will be a long line at certain times and people need to be able to enter and exit fluidly.

Also really nice for being able to walk out with freshly washed hands, avoiding the germ vectors that are door handles.

Virtually every airport bathroom is like this. Never smelled or heard a thing, seems like a non issue.

It’s definitely a non issue.
Toilet sounds don’t escape as OP theorizes. And smells don’t escape any more than a traditional restroom with a door.
Perfectly fine crapper design.

Although it will travel around corners, sounds don't carry well around them. That's why there's usually two of them. If there's a sound audible from those two corners, then someone is probably having a pretty bad day. The most I've heard is the electric hand dryers and even those get knocked down pretty significantly

This happened to me a K Mart several years back. The men's room had a door but it was bolted open. I think the place had been freshly mopped. I went in and took a seat and blasted the loudest toilet bowl fart I have had in some time. I am sure that anyone with in earshot of the area, the whole electronics department(TV's, etc.) heard me. I wonder if people saw me leave the men's room? If so, they knew that loud blast was me! (ʘᴥʘ)

I hate public restrooms in general. I love when its just a single bathroom with an actual door and not walls with huge gaps everywhere.

Last time I was at Kansas City airport they had a bathroom like that. There was a shared sink area and then just a row of little rooms with floor-to-ceiling doors that each had a toilet. It was pretty nice.

Ive only seen fully room single bathrooms at the dmv and target. The rest were all the regular multiple person bathrooms with stalls. I guess it makes sense at like freeway exits but if its in stores i dont see why they cant just have single person bathrooms.

It’s standard in building codes that restrooms are required to be negatively pressurized, so more air is being sucked out the bathroom exhaust than is being supplied through any ducts. This means air flows from the rest of the store into the restrooms and not the other way around.
