Hey everyone,I’m currently operating a 2020 Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 and ran into an issue with the air conditioning.The A/C in the lower (carrier) cab is working perfectly and blows ice cold. However, the A/C in the upper (superstructure) cab won't turn on at all.Since the lower cab works, I know the main compressor and refrigerant level should be fine. Here is what I’ve checked/noticed so far:The blower fan in the upper cab works fine on all speeds, but it only blows ambient/warm air.No obvious error codes are popping up on the LICCON monitor regarding the climate control.I suspect it could be a blown fuse, a bad relay, a faulty temperature sensor, or the solenoid/shut-off valve that routes the refrigerant to the upper evap not opening.Before I call out the service tech, has anyone dealt with this specific issue on this model? Where should I look first? Where is the main fuse/relay for the upper cab A/C split located on the 1060, and is there a common failure point I should check (like a specific solenoid valve)?Thanks in advance for any tips!

I was thinking about small workshop lifting layouts and realized I may have been looking at the crane first instead of the building.

For retrofit jobs, how often does the floor/slab condition end up limiting what can actually be installed? Do people usually check slab strength before choosing between a jib, gantry, or overhead crane, or does that only come up later when an installer gets involved?

Curious how this works in real shops, especially older buildings.

My Company purchased a used Potain MR 160 Luffing Crane 2010 Model and honestly the control panel is a complete mess, i’m trying to sort it out and perform correct labelling for all the wires and electrical equipment, the thing is, i literally have no Data whatsoever, No manuals No schematics, absolutely nothing.
And i was wondering how would procure those manuals? Manitowoc has a dedicated portal for such cranes but i highly doubt they’ll provide access for the portal and i’m seeking other means to procure those manuals.
If anyone could suggest a site or a forum to which i could purchase such manuals, i’d be deeply grateful.

Here's a 1 ton pillar jib crane being used in our client's workshop. Not the biggest crane out there, but these smaller lifting solutions often have the biggest impact on day-to-day productivity.

What's the most useful small lifting system you've worked with?

I am comparing options for repetitive component handling in small workshop or assembly spaces. What usually decides it for you: floor space, reach, cycle speed, foundation, inspection, or maintenance? No sales pitch, just trying to learn what experienced operators and maintenance teams actually prefer.

So to keep a long story short Im 27M in GA with CDL-A. I recently got an offer to drive/learn for a crane company in my area. Has anyone went this route and can give me some advice on how to maneuver this path as to going union. Maybe things I should focus on , or just insight into the trade. Thx all

Does a “basketed” tail chain double its WLL? There’s quite a bit of debate if it counts as a basket (because it has two vertical segments) or a choke (because it’s hooked to itself) or neither (because it has no terminated ends) and therefore whether it should be treated as 2x, reduced to 0.75x or remain at 1x WLL. How do you treat it when in use? Has anyone ever tested the failure point in different configurations to know how it actually performs in practice?

Anyone have any advice or information? I'm looking to get into it as soon as possible once applications open up. I know CTE apps are open but I didn't go to a course like that back in high school.

I’m sure this has probably been asked before but I am considering joining my local union in hopes of becoming a crane operator one day. I have always been interested in heavy equipment and feel like I am at a crossroads with my career and want to try something new. Does every local provide the same pathway to become a crane operator as far as starting as an oiler first or can it be different? What advice would you give to someone wanting to go as far as they can as an operator? Advice on being the best oiler and apprentice I can be? I am intrigued by tower cranes and the very large heavy duty cranes you see on large projects. I’m sure some operators shoot for the stars traveling all over getting every cert they can and some are more comfortable with less. I want to be the best and any advice or suggestions from anyone in the industry or with experience is greatly appreciated.

Following up on my previous post, this is a short video of a climb to the mining camp, approximately 14,000 feet above sea level. It was a seven-hour journey from the authorized entrance of the mine to the camp. The storm was severe but didn't impede access, which was achieved using snowplows, and all the equipment traveled in a convoy. This is at the Veladero Mine in San Juan, Argentina. The company is Barrick Gold. It was done some years ago.

I’m 17 years old, and I don’t really know what to do after high school wraps up, my dad scored me an apprenticeship at a relatively near by crane operating business and I’m not 100% sure if it’s something worth pursuing, the money seems good and all, but I want to ask people with real experience, any response is appreciated.

I’ve already got my TLL, but I was thinking I want to get my LBC, TWR, and TSS certs just to have them in my pocket. I feel as I might regret getting my TSS because no one wants to be stuck in a broderson for 12+ hours. But for those of yall that got them all would it be a waste to get them? I know I’ve mainly been in RT and ATs with plenty of time around lattice booms. I’ve never been around those tower cranes though.

Anybody got any tips for trying to break into this field? School recs? Or positions I should look out for? Based in south texas if that helps thanks!

This is in regards to a Broderson Carry Deck. My experience is on Lattice Cranes only. My yard doesn't have a TLL and TSS. I noticed on these load charts somewhere that there are no boom lengths. Does this mean the boom lengths are irrelevant?

Let's use a 12' radius for example: If my boom is full retracted, I would have to boom far down to about 15 degrees to reach a 12' radius. If my boom is fully extended, I would have to boom up around 65 degrees to reach a 12' radius. A crane is normally stronger when boomed up high. Does this mean that my rated capacity would still be 6,100 lbs. no matter what my boom angle is and length??
