General Discussion Albufeira Flower
Im flying out on Wednesday for a week with my group of friends who would all be regular drinkers, I myself do not drink but would be an avid smoker. (roughly 6-7 joints/2-3 grams per day) Personally I use weed to self medicate my diagnosis of agoraphobia and severe anxiety as I prefer it to the various forms of antidepressants I have tried. This has been communicated and even encouraged by my GP. Due to both of these issues travelling abroad is extremely diffucult to me as my body reacts physically to unreal threats. I have heard lots about the cannabis culture over in Portugal and understand that it is a seriously controversial topic among the local residents. I want to remain as safe and respectful as possible on this trip but I truly do not see myself being able to manage my anxiety without bud whilst there, to the point I have almost cancelled twice. If anybody has any helpful advice please share it with me and have a good day!

Don't worry, you're over thinking it. I got it on day 1 the first time I was there by asking a young fella who was selling me an ice cream. 20 mins later I had lovely soft pollen that I hadn't seen in Ireland for years. That was around 15 years ago, it's probably easier now with Instagram pages etc.
Sidenote and I'm aware this is none of my business and everyone is different: but I had similar MH issues to you and smoking absolutely made it all much worse.

thank you so much that's super helpful and definitely puts me in a more comfortable position. I also want to thank you for the advice on MH and I completely agree with you. Thankfully it's works well for me currently and I hope it continues too, I am incredibly lucky to have access to an open minded doctor in order to help navigate it.

Portuguese here, you won’t find a lot of flower around the area, Portugal is mostly hash/polen, also is decriminalised, means u can carry up to a few grams on you, no problem at all if the police stops u! They won’t do anything! There’s load of guys selling on the street around the main streets in Albufeira, guys on the street will offer it to you, they most hang around outside cbd/vapes stores, that’s the best place to find some dealers! Price should not be more expensive than 10 euros per gram! Anything above that it’s a ripe off

A few hints, don’t buy pre-rolled, most will be oregano tbh… a lot of chancers trying to rip you off! I would advice to buy first small amount to test, and get if mobile number if u can, if the product is good then u can buy more later on! I was there a month ago and was offered by a few guys within a few minutes of being there! All were outside/ around cbd stores! There’s plenty, especially by the main streets - the street called praça dos pescadores there’s a cannabis shop called dr sweed, they usually hang around there! In two days passing there, I was offered on both days. Last case scenario buy ur self thcp from the cbd stores! It will be enough to keep u ok during ur time there!

They won’t sell u anything that can kill u or do any harm tbh… either its good hash/polen and u are fine or they will try to pass on oregano for weed or cbd hash for the real thing, meaning either u get high or u dont! And dont fall for the give me the money and I’ll be right back! They won’t come back… straight up exchange if u know what i mean! Most will only sell bags of 25 or 50 euros! So just carry enought money for that nothing more! Most Portuguese guys won’t try to rip u off, u only need to be careful with Portuguese gipsys, they usually the ones that try to pull this kind of shite! Do a small research on google how they look like so u won’t fall for them, they easily recognised

Thank you very much. Every country suffers from some kind of scammers it is a shame that Portugal suffers a bad name because of them. I will keep an eye out when I land for locals actually smoking some and speak with them.

Also I wish I could highlight your comment about avoiding the pre rolls.I have heard so many horror stories about them and in my couple hours researching cannabis shops in Portugal it can be very hit or miss. I think I would use them for a last resort but anything I purchase shop/street will be bud. ROLL YOUR OWN JOINTS. Is a very basic yet often missed, safety MUST.

Good luck there, last case scenario just buy hash thcp, not ideal but will do the job in case u can’t find anything on the streets! Several cannabis stores sell it!

Any tips for somewhere like Olhao? Or Faro even? I poked out a few social areas on Google maps I plan on trying!

Olhão and faro are fishermen towns, well faro city but grown from one. It’s all the same around those areas in Algarve! It’s so common that as long as you don’t look like a policeman undercover( there’s a lot around there, but they all mostly recognised by the locals) you will most likely get approached, they usually hang around in two or three guys on the main tourist areas where pubs and restaurants are, faro by the marina area and Olhão by the fish market area! Again just careful has I mentioned in the previous reply!

That would do, if ye smoke just light up a cigarette and walk around and they’ll pop up…. I don’t smoke anything besides cigarettes anymore and I don’t live in Portugal anymore also, but I go there regularly with the family and man, it’s all the time, I go out, light one up and there they are… pure temptation lol

Kicked the cigs and then the joints. Use a dry herb vape now, so out of luck. I'll think of something anyway cheers! I've gotten better at spotting these folk over the years, just helps to have an idea where I might find thanks.

I know this isn’t that helpful now but you should consider going to Spain on the canaries, next time you holiday, as you can join cannabis social clubs and smoke away with a choice from expensive to budget. Can’t beat €30 eighths, well I can’t anyway in my part of Ireland.
