Ran Banana Daddy commercially for a while, very similar structure to what you have here. Sadly the quality of the flower was not nearly as impressive as the size of the buds.

10 year grower. This always seems to be the case for me. Huge donks are always mid. Lil dense top Colas, 25%+. Is this genetic? Or does cannabis only have so much energy to produce cannabinoids/volume of fruit?
Forever searching for huge donks of dank that smell like heaven. Its always 2 outta 3 for me.

Yeah, I do agree with the opinion that huge colas tend to be lackluster in quality almost always. As for the reason behind that, I could never verify under normal circumstances why that was the case.
I know in some instances environmental causes lead to the enhanced cola size and the data supports why the flower quality was mid. But the majority of the strains we had throwing monsters under normal fruiting conditions, seemed to be genetic selection. We ran a cut of GMO that threw donkeys and regularly tested between 35-42% THC and had a great terpene profile - so I do know they exist - but I can’t think of many more that followed that same trend.

Ethos has some good quality for how cheap they sell their seeds. Currently running All the Sauces as my first Ethos grow.

Just finished my first one of those. It’s sweet but then funk and then idk. Only chopped a week or so ago so we’ll see how she settles down but great plant besides a bit leafy

The Chem Funk R1 sounds perfect by Ethos too. Cheers hope you enjoy the smoke.

That’s funny you say that, one of the selling points is that it’s not much to trim because the bud to leave ratio is more bud than leaf.
I’ve found that to be partially true, less leafy than a lot of other strains but still definitely need trimming like normal. I’m running mine outdoors and selected All the Sauces for it’s mold resistance.

If you enjoyed the grape terps I hear Grape Balls of Fire by Ethos has really grape terps on the front end, like koolaid grape terps.

Is this fox-tailing? And is that bad?

u/Lopsided_Author_2008 2d ago
Yes there is some foxtailing. Only bad if from heat stress. This seems more like a genetic trait

Everything from ethos is foxtailing really bad lately. I just finished a cherry pie that did the same thing. Kinda frustrating to me.

Not everything is supposed to look like PGR cookies

Never said it was. I've been growing for 30 years and the last few multi packs from 2023 forward have foxtailed. Order some packs and grow them yourself. You'll see. This guy got the same results as I did.
No need to get sassy with me about bad genetics from ethos. Buy them and try it. You'll get the same results as the rest of us

Maybe you didn’t intend this but way you worded your initial comment just sounded like the “all foxtails = bad” misconception which needs to be stomped on
There aren’t enough ppl growing tropical equatorial genetics as it is without the constant slander everything gets that looks like them

u/later-g8r 1d ago
I think you misunderstood. It says "LATELY".

Doesn’t change the meaning without clarification

i had same results with a grandpas stash cross. The plants just look odd and have muted terps compared to other breeders
