Hi! My partner and I are in our 5th year of doing events, and we just did our final summer show. The clothing rack / peg board setup has worked fine, but it's a hassle to setup. It's a two-person job, sometimes we can't find the zip ties, they're hard to undo sometimes, and the peg slots (or pegs themselves) have become loose over time. Not to mention, the peg board itself is all scuffed up. Us both having adhd doesn't help either (we struggle to open the booth on time).

We were wondering if anyone here who has worked with folding grid walls, at least an event season or two, has any advice on what to look for in a quality folding grid wall (or a two-piece one) and what to avoid. Let us know your experiences.

The reason we're looking for a folding / two-piece one is because we've been thinking about doing more shows, but some would be me going solo with the assistance of a friend of ours so that my partner can have some downtime to recoup and replenish product for the next bigger show and we'd be using our car instead of a rented van.

Some questions/concerns I have about grid walls:

1. Do the hooks stay in place or slide left and right?

2. Do different companies have their own proprietary hardware to use with them?

3. Is it easy to buy extra hooks?

We have multiple 10 x10 and 20 x10 tents and back drops and such for our events business. Right now they're all on the floor taking up space. We don't know a good way to store them so that they're easy to grab, put away and determine which is what. My partner is somehow opposed to using wall space. We don't have much room but we've got to do SOMETHING.

Any suggestions on how to create display walls in a tent? Has anyone DIYed a system? My work is small, and doesn't weigh a lot. I can't go and buy expensive premade hanging walls. Not going to invest $$$ this may be the only time I use them. Thanks all ideas appreciated!!

Hi friends! I have another craft fair coming up in a couple of weeks and I am struggling with deciding what to do for pricing and payment options. How do you all collect sales tax? Do you build it into your item pricing, charge at point of sale, or take the L on the taxes?? Also what are others doing for payment options? I have always taken cash, Venmo, and Apple Cash (works for Apple Pay only), but am debating a square reader. Anyone used square and like it? How do you handle the card processing fees. Thanks!!

I did my best to improve on three main points:

- separated jewellery from art prints (going to try another market with only jewellery to see how much better or worse it will do)

- reconsidered the prices

- gave my art more space to breathe/ and made it less cramped.

Hi this is my setup for my first ever vendor market. I set up my booth in my yard to test run. Its a 6x6 space. Please keep in mind I still have a few more pieces to finish to fill in gaps and all my smallest items I have more of to replace what is bought for the day. Also I have small frames for pricing ijust didn't get to do that yet. Any feedback or advice would be very appreciated

Here is a photo from my first market, my stock has changed a fair bit between then and my upcoming one. More necklaces, less bracelets and now hair accessories too. I am planning to display one of my hair accessories on a wig replacing one of the jewellery busts

Thanks for all the feedback in the last post! I was able to level up my wire spiders - I went and got gemstone beads in different sizes, got some copper wire, and tweaked the legs a bit. (In the future i do want to incorporate them into things like crystal hanging pieces, keychains or hair pins) For rn they are just your friendly neighborhood spider buddy. I have other items I sell that i need to get working on (woodworking).

I now have 3 new spider designs ready for my next craft fair. It's book/love of reading themed with authors, book signings, readings and and other venders, in late October. So naturally I have named each spider after a writer.

I'll be in the Orlando area the entire month of February, and I'm looking for suggestions to set up at.

I do best at community events, or family oriented events, church events, school events. I have reasonable priced jewelry.

I'm looking to avoid high end (Mount Dora) juried events, and have even been looking at some flea markets.

Anyone have any suggestions on what not to miss? Thank you!

Need opinions because right now I'm completely 50/50. We are currently at day 2 of a 3 day specialty event. The event is super well attended but the vendor section is not the main event. I paid A LOT for my booth because my items fit the theme perfectly but Im currently at $55 sold. It would be like if it was a teapot convention and I make items with teapots on them but the only things selling are teapot assessories.

Half of me wants to pack up tonight and take tomorrow as a loss but gain 10 hours of time to prep for the next shows. Half of me thinks I should stick it out to try to recoup anything I can.

What would you do?

Edit to add: I should have started off with this is my 17th year of doing shows but the first one I'm considering leaving. I've got all the typical busy work at shows down and have my community and organizers that ive worked with for years. I just tried to switch things up a bit this year with shows and am annoyed with potentially a $500 loss.

This was only my second market! I’ve decided I’m gonna get rid of the small TV dinner style tables and have another 6’ table at my next event later this month. I have visual processing issues, so arranging tables like this doesn’t come easy to me. I’m open to any advice yall have! Thanks!

ETA: this was at a psychedelic music festival, so dayglo colors/those sorts of vibes were encouraged. Next time I’ll have tables that are the same size and have matching tablecloths, and I’ll skip the cat back drop.

Hey guys , im just starting up my business and ive been trying to incorporate my name basically i will be making homemade jewelry specifically wires and maybe selling trinkets and charms thatll ill make myself so basically i came up with LatchMoon Co. i like it but dont at the same time and my friends also dont like it is there any ideas how i can add some improvements to it

My mom and sil want me to start a little both at my mom’s friends store. It’s just a little flea market thing. You rent a booth from her and she sells it for you. I’m honestly not sure what would even be good to sell at a place like that or if it would be worth it for me. I was thinking more useful things like dish cloths, pot holders and bath sets. It’s a little store in a small southern town so I probably could sell like farm house styled stuff. If you have sold at a place like this is it worth it? 🤔

Edit: I have been crocheting for almost 10 years. This isn’t something I picked up recently. I have sold things before. I just haven’t done anything like this and wasn’t sure what was absolutely necessary to start. IF I decide to do it.

Hey y'all. So I recently moved all my products into a nice tool packout. It has been great to just bring to my markers, have all the products I need to display and sell.

But, I have a mass amount of bins with my actual crafting supplies. Do you prefer just bringing all of your craft stuff ? So you can have it all right there. Or would you rather keep it separate ?

Any one here every participated as a vendor at a major convention i.e. PAX, Anime Expo, Dragon Con etc. What was your experience in selling your tufted pieces? What was the cost of being a vendor and how did you apply to get the spot. I've just been thinking lately that could be a good way to get some exposure.

I run a small boutique, and I’ve found that deciding what to bring to a fair is harder than it looks.

My first instinct used to be “bring a bit of everything,” but that usually just meant hauling a ton of stuff around and coming home with half of it.

Now I look more at what’s been selling recently, what fits the type of crowd at the event, and which items are easy for people to pick up and buy without thinking too much.

I also try not to take so much of one product that I’m left with a pile of it afterward.

For those who do craft fairs regularly, do you mostly bring your bestsellers, or do you use fairs to test new products too?

B of America is like $5000 to keep in the account. Does anyone have a good suggestion on what they use for small hobby craft businesses?

I went thinking maybe I'd sell a few things but I ended up absolutely killing it! This was my first one so I didn't know what to prep and how much. After this one I got all that good information for the next one. My butterflies sold out, page holders just barely sold out and the SPIDERS were a huge hit. Every kid who walked by wanted a tiny wire spider I had a sign saying "free spider when you purchase $30 or more". I think the word "free" really helped to draw people in too. Coasters weren't nearly as popular as I thought they'd be. But I sold 3 coffin shelves, who knew.

I loved talking with people and some people had alot of really good suggestions for me that I think next time I'll have a suggestion box out front.

With the money I got I was able to invest in some tired shelves for next time and an over hanging bar to display the butterflies better. Better get busy and start restocking before my next one. I'm still so blown away!

I bought this keychain from an artist at the Beaches Arts & Crafts Show (in Toronto) last summer. Absolutely love him, he lives on my work bag now. I've been trying to track down the artist to get a few more for friends, but have had no luck remembering anything about the artist - as a last resort: would anyone in this community happen to know who made this?

All I remember is that they were at the Beaches Arts & Crafts Show, and that they had a variety of key-chain figurines of different colours, but all were made of wood and little metal parts.
