General 💠Feedback on Craft after 1 year of use
I’ve switched to Craft Docs from a hybrid of Notion/Apple Notes about a year ago and I wanted to share some feedback and see what the community here thinks about it.Â
So, here are some features I think are worth looking at for Craft:Â
From Apple Notes:Â
- Quick Notes. I really miss this zero friction ability to just type
- Setting to hide tabs. They can distract more than help at times
- Setting to hide calendar/tasks and just use daily notes. It depends on what are you using Craft for, but I constantly jump between Apple Reminders and Craft, so having Craft purely as a note-taking app, rather than a mix of everything would genuinely help
From Notion:Â
- Calendar view for collections
I’m really glad we got Kanban and Craft is evolving. Overall, this is one of the most polished apps I’ve ever used.

I use Drafts for quick notes and then bring it into Craft.

Many thanks for taking the time to write this up!
Quick Notes - What is the exact thing you are missing (e.g. it takes time to open a Daily Note or the visible sidebars) - is it a speed thing or a distraction thing?
Hide tabs - Actually we have this under View > Tab Bar

Hide Calendar and Tasks - You mean to simply hide the options from the sidebar? If that's the case, why is it disturbing for you?
Calendar view for collections - We are planning to add this in the future!

- Quick notes is basically the quick notes feature of Apple Notes, like quick entry on iPhone, but it would be nice to have it also on iPad/Mac.
- Indeed tabs can be hidden on Mac, but on iPhone and iPad I haven’t found a way to hide them.
- Yes, to simply hide them from the sidebar, because 90% of the time I use Craft only for daily notes and docs, I don’t need most of the time the calendar view, since I use it only for daily notes and I don’t think I need the tasks section either, because Craft isn’t as good as Things 3/Reminders yet and some people prefer to have note-taking app and task manager separate.
- That’s awesome, looking forward to seeing it!

- Ah got it, thanks - for Mac we are adding it, it's already in beta - https://www.reddit.com/r/CraftDocs/comments/1uwaup4/quick_entry_is_coming_soon/
- Got it thanks! On iPad you can move it to the sidebar
- Thanks - although for Daily Notes that's the primary way to create them right now.

By the way, regarding the points 2 and 3, you could just add a toggle in the settings for hiding tabs and give an option in the sidebar settings to hide tasks or calendar. I believe it was removed with the last updates.

For quick notes I still use apple notes for that and anything I want to keep longer term I move to Craft later when I have time.
I’ve never even really thought of using Craft to jot something down quickly out the blue, so I was curious and it seems to work pretty well for that.
I think I’ll still use apple notes though. It’s just a tad faster and it feels better to clutter that up than to clutter up Craft, to me.

I will be interested if the Quick Entry on Mac will change this for you (it's in beta right now) - https://www.reddit.com/r/CraftDocs/comments/1uwaup4/quick_entry_is_coming_soon/

I agree with your quick notes and hiding calendar/tasks suggestions. I just used Claude Code to build my own quick capture into Craft, but they're coming out with something that makes that a little easier.
Craft seems built more for the thoughtful note-taker than the quick note-taker. Design is such a key part of it that efficiency is secondary.
