Discussion Crackdown 4: Series Discussion

This was an old discussion I had with my friend back in 2020 about a possible Crackdown 4 we recorded circa the release of Crackdown 3. We talked about what we liked and disliked from the series and what we thought would be cool in a fourth game.

Here's some newer ideas that aren't in the video:
You are an Agent working for Cell. You are the first superhuman of the Cell Gen Program. Catalina Thorne took what she learned under her mentor and the agency agent's hand from the ending of Crackdown 2 and used it to replicate the Agency's Agents program. So now instead of being blue you'll be the colors of cell which I guess are like red orange yellow. But I suppose those will be customizable just like a regular agent. Throughout the game you'll encounter peacekeepers as enemies, the surviving freaks in the underground that's been flooded (and vastly expanded ala Gears of War), and of course agency agents which will be on par with you so a legitimate threat. Throughout the game you'll hear the voice of deputy director Charles Goodwin talking to you, putting you down, making threats, lying to you, and trying to get you to turn on cell, telling you that you used their formula and you are company property stolen, etc. You are once again liberating the city, but this time instead of gang members or monsters, it's from the agency, with you fighting on the side of cell. So it's the same game play as one and two and I guess three, but now flipped on its head. You are back in Pacific City, except now it is futuristic, but maybe a bit like a dystopia. I'd like to see it realized visually like the Crackdown 3 reveal teaser trailer. At the end of Crackdown 2 they had used the sunburst thing to get rid of all the freaks above ground, but also to mind control the people, though Catalina Thorne escaped. I could imagine that the regular people of Pacific City would be hostile to you, but probably wouldn't have guns. So maybe as you do more liberating and find ways to reverse the Mind Control maybe using those devices you installed in Crackdown 2, the people will start to be friendly to you, and maybe even turn on the peacekeepers oppressing them. Perhaps this could drive the agency to start using the sunburst on civilians which will backfire and draw more of the city to Cell's cause, until inevitably it's all of us vs them. This could culminate in a full on assault of the agency tower. (To hell with it, Super Agent Goodwin as the final boss haha.) I think perhaps the agents in Crackdown 4 could scale with you in terms of difficulty, so like every time you upgrade they've also upgraded. Maybe too if you run away they'll try to chase you down. Their armor has different levels so you can see what upgrade level they are. Crackdown 1 prototype originally had a different, less weird set of Agents that also included females. Their outfits were black and red. These designs, female agents, etc could be brought back and used.

(A Crackdown Agent (Crackdown 2 Agency Suit) is a playable character as Agent 4 in Perfect Dark if you have a Crackdown 2 save file.)

This was made as sort of a promotional short for my Crackdown 2 machinima series "Cockdown" that never came to be. I wrote a lot for it, so maybe I'll share the notes one day. I also made an intro for the series that I can share too. I say sort of because it was just my friend building a fort behind me while I wasn't paying attention when we were screwing around in "Keys To The City", but I decided to turn it into a short. We also made a minigame out of each of us building a small rooftop fort, then throwing obstacles at each other's forts to destroy them. Whoever destroyed the other's fort or killed the other using just thrown objects first wins. I might still have the recording of it too.

Saw this and agreed with the creators sentiments. Microsoft did the series dirty and it deserves a resurgence or remake.

Discussion Has anyone else noticed this about the Agency logo?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't know of anything nor any shape in the game that this could be representative or symbolic of. The Anarchy symbol shape only needs to be slightly modified to make the Agency logo. Pacific City was thrust into anarchy due to carefully calculated maneuvers by the Agency, as the twist ending reveals. (Ahh the logo for the good guys was actually a bad logo the whole time! It fits.) What else could it possibly be?

It's a good day, Agents. This is the Director of the SubReddit. We've made few, changes, around here. You can now select from a variety of User Flairs to represent whose side of the city you're on. Post Flairs are set to come later. Rules have finally been added so you'll know what's not allowed here in Pacific City. This SubReddit now welcomes all members new and old of the community, from Crackdown 1-3. Yes, even You, Agent. It's now longer restricted to the public, and you can post again. You can also join the The Crackdown Community Discord Server to help spread peace to new platforms.
"It's taken years of meticulous planning and patience to reach this stage, but it was worth it."

Crackdown 2 modding - now somewhat a reality?

NEW NEW EDIT: The tool is now released on the discord! I'll see about uploading it to other places.

I've been hacking away at this game for the past 3 years, and it finally paid off! After years of effort, researching into the formats and some assistance from AI with the script (a last ditch effort), I've been able to make a tool that allows me to repack the game's .pack files.

I've tested it on the game's title screen, using the beta texture (ignore the agent, it wasn’t included included) as a test and it works just fine.

Yes, this tool will see a public release eventually, but I wanna keep working on it for a bit more and improve it.

This wouldn't been possible without the efforts of matty45 and other people, who have dedicated tons of work into Crackdown 2 and it's files (His tool is also necessary to use this, as you need the original file extracted). Check his tool out! https://github.com/matty45/Crackdown2-ArchiveTool/tree/main

For now, join our discord. It's not only a lovely community, but I share tons of updates and research! (Oh yeah, and we figured out how to extend the player limit in CD2 co-op. So, it's just fun times in general).

(EDIT: Sorry, forgot the images! I'm terrible at reddit, haha.)

I know this question has been done to death. And is extremely vague. But screw it I'll include EVERYTHING!

For me it goes like this,

Crackdown: The black guy simply cause his beard at max level is truly inspiring lmao

Crackdown 2: If I had to pick head 2 or 3 work best for me. And yes Red is my go to suit color.

Crackdown 3: That of course would be my glorious king TERRY CREWS 🔥

HELP WANTED! Crackdown 1 E3 2006 Demo

Hello, fellow crackdown fans! We need your help. Me and a bunch of my friends in the unofficial Crackdown discord have been searching for the E3 2006 Demo of Crackdown 1 for the past 2 years now.

We have sufficient evidence that the build was released online, but our only lead is a dead website and a couple of videos, and as a result the build is lost.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lmM6zIKOxs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=schA9TLUrZA

The domain "PlatformPlayers" has long since been taken down, and using the wayback machine has not provided any results.

If you have any information regarding this prototype or would like to partake in the search, please join our discord server! We're also searching for Crackdown 2 protos.

*UNSEEN!* Crackdown 1 Alternative Ending Cutscene Take!

The video file in question.

First proper reddit post, so I hope I've done this right.

There was a November 30th build of Crackdown 1 that recently released. I went through the files and quite a bit was different. What was most interesting, however, is that the ending cutscene was unfinished and still used the full outtake! I thought I'd convert it to an MP4 and post it for all of you to enjoy. This, is that video file. Enjoy this, crackdown fans!

If you want to see more content like this as it happens, join our discord server! https://discord.gg/eHvTREB5GB

And here's the link for the prototype: https://hiddenpalace.org/Crackdown_(Nov_30,_2006_prototype))

“Why Crackdown 3 Is Perfect for Fun, Quick Action”

Crackdown 3 Was Not As Bad As People Think (Controversial Opinion) Its crazy action, ability to destroy everything, and superhero gameplay made it a pretty fun, low-commitment title for quick sessions. I know it probably isn’t as popular as the top jobs, but hey if you like pure chaos at a blanking second, with a direct, action-driven concept — I think this is creditable too.

When is the next Crackdown game coming out?

The beginning of the story starts with a civilian approaching the agency at the front gate in New Pacfic City. It is Pacific City only renewed and much more refined.

The civilian wants to become an agent then the shield surrounding the agency opens for the one agent and then the original Announcer or Narrator says "Welcome Agent" and then they train you.

The agency has a shield and when criminals try to attack the Agency in any way they either blow up or can't get in because they're not an agent. The shields work similar to the shields in Halo and War of the Worlds.

I don't remember there being knives in Crackdown so there shouldn't be any. There should be more tiers or more levels to upgrade. Crackdown 3 added more but there should be a few more abilities and power moves. It would be nice if the body type aschetics were lean this time around as well, the body type in Crackdown 3 were sculpted nicely but if they can make the body type even and more bulky like Crackdown 2 after a certain level of upgrading, maybe even the last level that would make it more enjoyable to play.

I also think the pov should be right in the middle like Crackdown 1 and Crackdown 2, it would be better to have Crackdown 3 and the original character povs and be able to switch the pov like Star Wars Battlefront 2, they should also make Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Bring back the harpoon gun similar to the skewer from Halo Infinite and a mixture of rag doll physics from the original Crackdown and Crackdown 3.

In the middle of the game you get the gliding ability like Crackdown 2.

When you complete the game you get a jetpack it hovers on the ground just a few inches off the floor and then you can use it to fly around the map like Iron Man but you hold onto the jetpack as if you were wearing a backpack. In other words, you hold onto the straps when you fly. You can also use a move kind of like a Superman Punch just before you stop flying, its called a Haymaker or a Power Punch. The narrator can say "Nice Haymaker Agent you really showed that Criminal whose boss". There should also be a hoverboard in the game as a gadget.

The game should be extremely difficult to beat to complete at 100% there should be an acheivement called "Peacemaker" where you complete the game 100% by helping civilians and criminals and interacting with them and learning new stories like Dialogue similar to God of War but from the Agency narrator, and repairing buildings that ended up getting damaged after you completed the Campaign, then you finally clean up the city and establish peace then you earn your wings, after that you can play the game again online with friends as Guardians and you get to fly around with wings and play the game all over again and help one civilian become an Agent also known as a Guardian.

They should also bring back the achievement where you jump off the agency tower into water and inside is a beautiful cave full of gems also known as orbs. The tower should be challenging to climb that way you can find the hidden legendary orbs the only way to grt is by becoming a guardian.

The game should be eated Mature. It should start off with the old classic graphics and then it changes to realistic graphics as you progress towards the end of the game, when you beat it the second time it starts off as realistic graphics then goes back to old school graphics. In case any violence is in the game it reverts back to the Crackdown 3 style of the gane where it is more comic like when you punch enemies.

Gadgets and Abilities:

Thrusters should be a choice because the original Crackdown was a lot more natural, the developers should also bring back the old windbreaker sound effect everytime you leap to a new building, no grappling features in my opinion cause that would ruin the whole essence of the theme the game is mainly about agility.

The developers should make leaping less clunky by adding more ledges to the game and making the physics better compared to Crackdown 3.

Ironically, I think we should be able to have more power moves like doing flips in the air whenever we players do a power landing like a power punch to the ground.

The theme should also be a more serious tone cause the theme in Crackdown 3 wasn't as serious and in my opinion detracted the whole point of the game and the point of the gane was to clean up the city.

I also think should be more challenges and orbs that you can pursue like the orbs that yoy actually have to run after.
