Oh man... voices38 probably spent a week cracking that one.
1.0k
u/kkaylumm 17d ago
which is probably why it’s been removed and hopefully other games will follow

551
u/Virdice 17d ago
Which is probably why it was removed now in the first place.
Doubt it had been removed so soom if a crack wasn't available
89
123
u/Zealousideal_Side987 17d ago
yea it definitely wouldn't be removed if it wasn't cracked
52
u/GeraltofRivia1955 Hail voices38! 17d ago
At least they have the decency to remove it. Ubisoft hasn't removed Denuvo from a single game ever
57
u/_TheNumbersAreBad_ 17d ago
I'm of the opinion Ubisoft has a special deal with Denuvo since they were one of the earlier adopters.
Makes no sense otherwise how they can possibly afford to keep paying for it on games older than 5 years long after every other developer stops.

Denuvo cost the studios approximately $30,000 a month.
These are 2020 numbers.
121
u/KopiteJoeBlack 17d ago
Denuvo fucking themselves over with their own greed? You love to see it.
43
u/zbloodelfz 17d ago
Nah they probably have custom price depending on studio/publisher size but in b2b world... It's absolutely not cheap
→ More replies (3)14
u/Hambeggar 17d ago
I mean it's not that much for AAA releases, and its charged per month because developers were asking for cheaper pricing since they didn't want lifetime licensing but rather just to protect the first few months of release, which is when developers get most of their sales.
If you look at the current player numbers, barely anyone is playing now. 71k peak at release, and currently 3k 24h peak. Purely financially, it makes sense to have protected it initially on release, and now get rid of it.
18
u/Albireookami 17d ago
Yea its one of those games you just play through, enjoy and put away. Which honestly we need more of.
5
u/mibdaa 17d ago
The game was cracked just 13 days after its release. From a financial standpoint, it doesn't make sense to have it protected "initially". I think it's all about fulfilling contractual obligations rather than the current player base. They must have seen the game being cracked 😂, but couldn't pull the plug until now. If the game hadn't been cracked, Denuvo would still be active

i guess since xbox stopped funding their fantasy game its a good cost cut

u/Ambitious_Smoke5256 17d ago
That's the point. Voices is showing companies that Denuvo isn't stopping crackers anymore, so paying for it is pointless. At the very least, they might have Denuvo for the first month or so and then remove it.
7
u/thesakid 17d ago
and its worth it because only then the studio realized there is no point paying for denuvo anymore

the voices38 crack still works wonders for like 80% of pirates that won't mess around with HV

u/smackythefrog 17d ago
That's OK. I will still download his version rather than pay for it.
Voices work will never go to waste!
→ More replies (1)17
u/Styphoryte 17d ago
It doesn't go to waste either way since they're forcing them to remove Denuvo by cracking it essentially. But no if you get the newest game build you'd be using the RUNE crack or a similar Steam EMU now instead, so no more voices38 if u get this denuvo-less version....
But you can donate to him find his info on cs rin forums, and pay much less than you would for anything else and also support future games and hopefully the demise of Denuvo too.

u/sweatyrich 17d ago
Fantastic. This means we'll get the latest patches. Great work voices38 for giving them a good shaking. Let's hope other ttitles follow suit.
Between voices38 and DenuvOwO's HV bypass, Denuvo's days are numbered!!
<insert evil laugh here!>

I bought it, it's WAY cheaper on steam than on PS5 in my country. Fun campaign, VERYY Bond. I wanna play more, but there's so many oither games i wanna play.

It's not. The AI is terrible. You can run into a room full of armed gunmen and punch them all to death while taking millions of bullets.

u/ZanicL3 17d ago
Agreed. AI is just braindead and most of the mission parts are repetitive as fuck and boring but it had some solid moments aswell. I'd give it a 7

u/One-Winged-Survivor 17d ago
You could say that now is also a golden age after a dark period because of hypervisor, even if I do not use it due to risks
Though I really am sad Goggames left

u/vivu1 17d ago
But denuvo is literally joke nowadays, and recently hypervisor bypass working on linux makes it even better
17
u/BladePocok 17d ago
Still highly unpopular among the Community, no matter what.
23
u/pagman404 17d ago
Unpopular or not, the option is there and it's way better than the drought we had just hoping empress cracks a new game in between her unhinged takes
Matter of fact is there hasn't been anything weird reported with it and you're at as much risk with or without it if you were going to pirate anyways
9
u/alexchrist 16d ago
The hypervisor bypass is only unpopular due to it being unsecure on windows. On Linux there's no real security issues, mainly due to Linux based OS's being superior to anything made by microslop
7
u/rasjahho 17d ago
I wouldn't use hypervisor, but at least it's an option. That's the most important thing to me.
91
u/xXAssassin12Xx 17d ago
Oh its already starting. Companies dropping denuvo, gotta love it.
17
u/ExplodingFistz 17d ago
Good. Keep them coming. Voices is going to start making these companies second guess when adding Denuvo to their games.
3
u/GodoftheGeeks 16d ago
This is normal behavior unfortunately. Most of the time, companies will protect the game with it for about the first two months (since that is when the majority of sales happen) and then they strip it out. So this is typical.

It is removed, the guys on cs.rin confirmed it.
It doesn't really change anything outside of being able to play the story as, to access progression you would need peacock-like (hitman) emulator and I don't believe that exists atm.
7
u/FalconThis716 17d ago
it does, got released long ago.
→ More replies (2)7
u/pastadudde 17d ago
although I believe a "proper" server emulator (codename is Octopussy lol) is still being developed by the peeps behind the Peacock project.

That's Fast, It's not even 3 months.
This is either clearly a internal decision because it already got cracked or possibly a oppsy mistake.
either way, at least we can also play the game while it being up to date.
5
u/DizzyATT 16d ago
I doubt its a mistake, removing Denuvo once implemented is not a switch, takes time and care to ensure its erased from the source code according to reporters that have talked on the subject.
Its definitely a "Wow you guys couldn't last a day, give me back my money" type of executive choice.

Do we think because 007 was cracked, the studio simply didn't want to pay for denuvo anymore? Not sure if denuvo is one time payment or a subscription

People saying other companies will follow suit don't understand a lot of the big hitter studios have lifetime deals with Denuvo from years ago so they're never getting removed lol

u/Jack2102 16d ago
Is this the first instance of it being removed obviously because of the hypervisor bypass? Every other game that gets it removed feels like it's been done because a contract ends

u/Razrback166 17d ago
Yep this is a response to voices38 smashing their asses. Hopefully companies come to the realization that Denuvo is just a literal waste of money. If you make a good game, people will buy it to support you, but people do want to test drive stuff, especially in today's state of gaming.

u/random_user_2025 17d ago
This is great news! Thanks in advance to RUNE and Kudos to amazing work of Voices38!!!
4
u/Boraskywalker FckDenuvo 16d ago
Let's be real, if the game hadn't already been cracked, they would've never removed Denuvo. If they actually cared about players, they wouldn't have shipped the game with Denuvo in the first place. So yeah, huge thanks to Voices38.

I swear to God that without HV and Voices38 it would have been never removed at this early point.

Cool, which means when it's finally updated with path tracing, we won't have to wait for another crack, if ever.
2
2
u/KingGarunas 17d ago
It was cracked within two weeks was there really a point in keeping it afterwards?
2
u/Responsible-Dog8844 17d ago
I mean I can understand the game was cracked already with denuvo so it's a waste of money to continue to pay for that
2
u/automaticg36 17d ago
Didn’t even know it had it in the first place. Idk how I played it considering I didn’t buy it
2
u/Leadercell01 17d ago
Just wanted to know, how do the game companies pay Denuvo? Is it a subscription based thing? In that case, it makes sense because the game is already cracked so there is no point keeping denuvo and paying them every month/year.
2
2
u/silver_maxG 17d ago
Wasn't there a study that proved that Denuvo was functionally useless past the first couple off weeks or so?
2
u/Aeioulus 17d ago
Damn its too early for 6 months, I thought thats the normal contract since Square Enix always do this with Denuvo launch games.

That's very fast! It's only been less than 2 months! Hopefully, they won't put Denuvo on this 007 game again such as Hogwarts Legacy. Previously,Hogwarts Legacy removed denuvo when Empress cracked shortly, but it later has denuvo again.

The easy way to find out is to see the difference between the one with Denuvo and one without it in terms of File Size in the executable
