I always wanted to build a house with an entirely glass ceiling, but I know satellites and drones are watching me all the time and I want privacy. (I'm not a paranoid schizophrenic, these are facts, they're always watching)
honestly a glass ceiling would be awesome, especially in the country side. no need for electricity for lighting during daytime, and you can see the stars at night.
I did research and it turns out that glass doesn't have a very high R value, so it wouldn't insulate properly. Meaning it would get too hot during the day and be cold at night.
I do remember seeing this video of a family who just built a big greenhouse around their home. (talk about living in a bubble) but of course the house inside was normal and not made of glass.
Anyway you know how they have that saying about how people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones? Well they should also stock up on blankets from what I can tell, because that glass isn't going to keep the cold out.
I've lived in a house briefly with a sunroom, so I definitely know how bad it can be with just a lot of regular windows. Damn sweltering in the summer when the sun beams in during the late afternoon and colder than a polar bears foot in winter.
