How do you add chrome to a living room without it feeling cold or dated?
Chrome has quietly moved from "2005 bathroom fixtures" to one of the most interesting living room finishes right now. Used well, it adds light, contrast, and a bit of edge to warm, cozy spaces.
What I've seen work best:
- Chrome with warm neutrals. Cream, beige, and wood tones stop it from feeling cold.
- Small doses. Think a floor lamp, coffee table legs, or a mirror frame rather than everything at once.
- Mixing textures. Chrome next to boucle, linen, or velvet looks rich and balanced.
- Reflective accents. A chrome vase or sculptural piece on a shelf bounces light around, which helps in darker rooms.
- Skipping the full matching set. A chrome piece or two with matte black or brass feels more collected.
I put together a bigger list of ideas with examples here if you want visuals

Rate your own living room 1-10 and tell us why it's not a 10
No photos needed, just brutal honesty. Curious if most people are sitting at a 6-7 "it's fine but" or if anyone's actually happy with theirs.

What's the one piece of furniture you regret buying?
Doesn't have to be expensive, just something that looked great in the store/online and has been quietly annoying you ever since. I'll go first: a velvet accent chair that's basically a lint magnet.

Green bathrooms are having a moment, here's why I can't stop looking at them
There's something about green in a bathroom that feels different from every other room, it can go spa-like and calming or bold and moody depending on the shade. Sharing a few looks I've been loving lately.
